Alternative to new vRS

Featured Replies

I’ve got one parked outside my house too, and its wonderful.

Its getting quicker as I get more miles on it, and I’m getting quicker as I learn how to handle the dsg.

I knew the limits of me old oil-burner but this beastie has raised the bar much higher.

I could moan over mpg loss but lifes too short, just walk the 10 miles extra that you wont get from your gallon. Its worth it.

I've done 1300 miles in mine now, I'm loving the DSG and the speed of the little thing.

Great to here you're finding it fun, I'm dying to get mine!

Can you give any tips as to how to make good use of the engine? i.e how often/when do you use sport mode and how' best to get a good start and beat those rivals off the ground? :giggle:

(Tips welcome from Jammy Doger and Lummox too :) )

Starts are as simple as in D and stick your toe down.

Works for my pal Paul.

You are going to love it mate. Ten mile test drives cant do this machine justice, you need to learn how to drive it. Lummox is bang on the money on starts, just press the go pedal in drive. If you're turning from a junction you will get a moments spin of the inside wheel and then you will wonder where the traction comes from. As far as dsg it has the next ratio ready for you but it cant read the road. You might be screaming up in 4th and it has 5th cued up ready, but you're hitting brakes and need 3rd for the bend. This is where you apply your intelligence to the mix to change at the right moment, and this you feel your way into. It becomes natural, and you wonder why you ever needed that 3rd pedal thing.

see, this would be one of the major drawbacks for me (and would definitely put SWMBO off)

No only do you need to use more fuel, the fuel is also more expensive.

Liking the new SEAT Ibiza. New one coming out in 2 weeks time with the same DSG set up as the Ferbi vRS. Got a test drive booked in the FR and FR Cupra :p

Both petrols? You do miss the extra omph of the Cupra in the FR but both map the same.
