Octavia Estate 1.9 tdi 4x4 2007

Featured Replies

Have been on the look out for a 4x4 Tdi Estate for a while and have found one 07 plate with full Skoda Service History but the mileage is a bit higher than I would like at 63,000 miles

Can anyone give me an insight to any known problems with the 4x4 Octavia's or are they relatively trouble free .

Comments Please ?

Had a 2.0TDi for approx 20 months and had no problems apart from a dash rattle that was fixed under warranty, and the front roof light unit inside the car fell out (it had been loose) recently, also fixed under warranty. Neither were exactly major problems though!

I would have no hesitation recommending the car, 63k isn't high at all for a diesel, as long as it's not been abused (driven hard from cold etc) and serviced properly (which it looks like it has been).

I have a 2007 2.0 4x4. From reading the standard comments on the Octavia; I would say the 4x4 should generally have no different problems than any other Octavia "issues" comments you would get on a search on the forum. However, this depends on how the 4x4 has been used. Mine is used extensively on tracks and if the vehicle has been subject to this sort of use I would suggest you check for clunks and noises from the suspension. Control arm bushes will wear (my front bushes went at 59k and just had the rears done at 91k. The only other point to look out for is the rubber coupling in the rear drivetrain. I had this replaced about 65k and the cost of the part was just short of the £200 mark with a couple of hours labour to fit.

If it has a full history and you can find out who the first owner was and are relatively sure it was not a forestry or construction company then I would have no hesitation in buying one at that mileage - price dependent of course. Oh, and a good after market warranty, if you are not getting one from the seller, would give peace of mind for the usual turbo/ecu/dmf problems that will come up on this site if you search.

Don't know if this is any use to you - only just returned from holiday so post might be too late.

Anyway, my 2005 octy 4x4 has led a sheltered life, regular services, very light use - only two people on board, no heavy loads, etc.

So far it's had the dreaded ESP problem, the bonnet sensor failed causing constant alarm soundings, boot locking/unlocking mechanism sometimes fails to operate, two rear springs needed replacing.

Other than that it starts and runs fine - fingers crossed - and it would have been fine if any of the above problems had happened within the warranty period.

Would I buy another one - no - because I want a VRS :)
