Featured Replies

I got 500 miles to a full tank and it said i had 30 miles left when i filled up, quite pleased with that! i do around 100 miles a day commuting for work virtually all sitting at 70 on the A14 the computer says i'm averaging 56mpg

I completely agree Lewwy - the computer said 73MPG... thats only a small difference of 20MPG! Ive set it to display the time now!

The per trip display can be a little optimistic, but I've found the constant log (setting 2) is only ever an mpg or 2 out. I just got 50.6mpg doing click to click, computer said 51.

I've noticed time of year (ambient temps) effect it's accuracy.. Mine almost bang on in Spring / Autum. Under estimates in Winter and is optimistic in summer.

On my first full tank, the computer said 61mpg, when the reality was 52mpg on a brim-to-brim calculation. 9mpg out is a bit crap. I can only assume it's a fairly crude calculation, and doesn't take into account things like cold engine etc.

I do a fair few short journeys, so 52 isn't bad I think, and would hope to get more on a long run, setting the cruise at 70. Will be interesting to see.

God, I'm turning into a boring old duffer. I'm even thinking about doing an MPG spreadsheet. :S

Late 2006 vRS BLT engine. Had it from new now covered 36K. (second vRS wife 'T' boned the first ! :'( ) My late dad was an anorak when it came to MPG and I blame him for my affliction. He would always check his mpg and record it in a diary. Like father like son  Anyway I always fill up and work out MPG on miles covered litres used ( coverted to Gallons 1 litre = .22 of a gallon !)

I have never bettered 51 mpg and most fill ups have given me between 44 -46 during the last 3 plus years. What is for sure is the car computer is miles out.

I went to Jabba last January and had a remap done. The car is soooooo much better now, I wished I had it done years ago but was concerned over warranty issues. The re map has made no difference to mpg even though the car is 'enjoyed more' now.

When the car was a year or so old I was concerened about my 'low' mpg compared to claims on this forum about 50, even 60 mpg easily acheived. At a service I had it checked out and no issues were found. I have had continentals, then Avons (not again) and last new set of rubbers are Uniroyals Rainsports. Always the same mpg .

I drive like a bit of a bellend too and get around 35-40mpg around town. Although on the 40 mile run to the ace cafe tuesday we had a nice slow sensible convoy for a change and managed 50ish mpg. Around the same as my mates SE so the car must be running ok
