May have a leak help

Featured Replies

Car is a mk1 tdi 130 just noticed i some marks on floor where car was parked up so had a look and there seems to be water dripping from behind the pass bulkhead soundproofing, dripping onto the front axle near the pass arm theres no smell to it and seemed to stop after 5mins when i parked up what could this be possable air con?? or just rain water as car is parked slightly on a hill faceing forward.

Could just be water from the air con, there is a drain hole down there somewhere.

Keep an eye on your coolant level and worry if that starts to go down

+1 for air con relatedness (assuming your air con had on)

Dont think its coolant as its quite cold sorry should have said car has the climate thing not air con, just been out again and still dripping prob a drip every 30secs coming from bulkhead of a rubber thing just behind soundproofing.

If it is the climate thing why does it do this and will it need sorting first car with air con/climate so be gently lol.

My VRS has climate control and does it too. Its normal. It's because climate control works like a fridge, by evaporating and condensing the refrigerant to create cold conditions. The evaporator part of the climate control is very cold, to cool the warm air passing over it and into the car, so when warm air touches it it forms water droplets which are allowed to leak out a drain hole in the bulkhead.

Me too, bloody K series engine!

I had a 214sei from new, developed a h/gasket leak which I must admit i ignored. Eventually it seized up (cam journals were shot and

the cams wouldnt rotate). Had replacement engine fitted by local garage (£1600), big ends went (according to AA) after 1500 miles.

Had another engine fitted at no cost to myself, thought enoughs enough, and traded it in for my Octy (best move i ever made).

The Rover interior was great, the car was let down by a cr**p engine. Rant over emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

That is likely to be condensation from part of the aircon unit I would have thought.... Climate Control is aircon+more electronics to regulate the temperature. Most fridge/ freezers do this, but you are simplify not aware they do, as they evaporate the condensation water.
