Where are the Roomsters?

Featured Replies

My wife has a car on Motability, and needs an automatic. She is due to change early next year, so we are starting to look around for what the various manufacturers have on offer that would meet her needs. Her current car is a Note which she has decided she is not enjoying. Some niggles over reliability, seat comfort, and a not totally convincing local dealer. Her previous car was a Modus, which she liked a lot, although the need to move the drivers seat forward when setting the car for maximum luggage, was not a comfortable arrangement, and no good for long trips. But for quick trip to the tip it was manageable.

The Roomster has found its way into our initial list of possibles. It was discounted last time because we didn't fancy the petrol 1600 automatic. Ideally a Diesel Auto would be good, but the 1.2 TSI DSG sounds nice. I had an Altea 2.0Diesel DSG a while ago, and thought the Diesel DSG combination was lovely. My wifes Note has a 1600 petrol Auto , and the lack of torque is frustrating on the hills round here. the car runs up and down the gearbox as you try to maintin progress. From what I have read the 1.2 TSI has a good torque spread

I dropped into our nearest Skoda dealer (in Plymouth) a couple of weeks ago, there was only 1 roomster on site, a used 2007 model. So we couldn't really see what the new spec entails. Passing through Exeter last week I went to see what they could show me, again no latest spec ars around, just one on an 09 plate..

Where are all the Roomsters?

Skoda dealers don't seem to carry many demonstrators at present, the dealership in Norwich is moving into a larger premises so they can display most models, seems good sales hasallowed expansion, but it really don't help you finding a test drive in your area, maybe Skoda will pick up on your comments.

We've got a new Roomster DSG arriving in the next day or so, we've been without a new Roomster on site for a coupe of months now. They are hard to get hold of and whenever we've got one in the pipeline it usually gets sold before it reaches us.

will be interesting to see whether the shortage makes much difference in p/x values on our existing ones. I should ask when mine goes in for first MOT...

We find low mileage used Tiptronic Roomsters in level 3 trim sell very quickly.

Yep, that is the problem folk keep buying them like hot cakes - the Roomie population of this little island where I live has quadrupled in the last 6 months. I blame Jeremy Clarkson.
