Blower not working on 1-2-3, OK on 4 ?

Featured Replies

Yesterday my blower (demister) fan stopped working on settings 1, 2 and 3, but still works on 4, along with the air-con ! Could it be the switch, maybe the fan itself, or an electrical relay which is the culprit ? The rear screen heater/demister also blows its fuses constantly too. Should I just book it in and let a mechanic sort it, or is there a simple answer ?

Covered loads of times. It's the blower resistor pack that's faulty.

Mechanics are generally not very good when it comes to car electrics. Look in the phone book under automotive electricians and you should be able to find somewhere that can stop the fuses blowing.

Oh and is the series resistor integrated on the switch, or is it located on the motor itself?

It's lives in a pocket on the motor casing.

Thanks guys, so probably the series resistor pack and it's located on the blower itself √ Cheers. So, is it buried deep in the dash or quite easily accessible ?

Right, did some searching now I know what I'm searching for and found some guides and part no.s. Again, many thanks √

yeah blower resistor pack for sure.

Setting 4 is full current and the resistor reduces the current to get slower speeds 1,2 and 3. So knackered resistor = full blast only!
