Warning beeper at start up

Featured Replies

My 1.9 tdi Elegance on 2005 plate has a very intermittant habit that occurs maybe once every few weeks. When the engine has started the warning beeper sounds three beeps with no warning lights on? All doors etc shut, all fluid levels fine. All warning lights self test ok and go out as normal. My old identical but 2001 plate Fabia never did this! Anyone any ideas what the beeps mean with no warning lights and nothing seemingly wrong with the car?

checked all the bulbs?

Are you starting it too fast? Mine sometimes bleebs if I don't wait for all the waring lights and glow plugs to end.

I had this on my Fabia vRS (04 plate).

It very ocassionally done the three (quite loud and long) beeps while starting up. Unfortunately the dealer couldn't recreate it or see anything wrong and since there were no lights coming on on the dash, they dismissed it as a glitch and told me not to worry.

With a bit of tech help on here, it was diagnosed as an ABS ECU fault. Apparently the dealers have access to a technical knowledge base which has an article describing this fault.

...anyway, back to the dealer who checked again and they agreed to replace the ABS ECU under warranty. Owned the car for abour two years afterwards and never seen it reoccur.

Assuming yours is the same fault, it might be worth having a word with Skoda to see if they'll replace it FOC or with some sort of discount. Failing that, if its an expensive job, I doubt its anything too critical (in my non-technical mind anyway), but see what other advice you get on here. I'm sure it was relatively well known - might even be worth a search (although my thread has long since gone).
