Thats it. I've done it. vRS ordered this morning

Featured Replies

Well Folks,

I've umm'ed and arrr'd enough over the last few weeks. Boardering to the point of insanity. :p

Its certainly been a bit of a rollercoaster ride with my research. Some deals I found have been very good. Some have been terrible.

Having spoken to stacks of Skoda dealerships over the last few weeks, I narrowed my order down to three Skoda retailers.

And would naturally give my business to the one who could offer me the best deal overall.

The dealer I have gone with is one that ironically is nearest to where I live.

Hobin Skoda in Manchester.

Ordered my 2.0 Petrol Occy vRS this morning. Spec'd with Xenons/Maxi/Fr&Rr Park sensors/Auto mirror/light pack/Spare wheel

And yes Brimma - I've gone for the Candy White one!:giggle:

Thanks to Craig & Anthony for putting a cracking deal together for me. Cheers Gents.

If anyone up North is contemplating buying a new motor whilst these offers are on then I would suggest you give them a shout.

It was very refreshing to have a relaxed and approachable dealer who also knew exactly what they were talking about. Even to the point of posting information on these very pages regarding my concerns, which in turn has put my mind at rest. Nice.

God only knows when my car is going to be here but no doubt I will know more in a few weeks. Build week etc..

Gotta try and put it out of my head now and forget about it til nearer the time. :'(

Best of luck with a speedy arrival!

Very nice spec, and Candy White too! Very cool!

Well done! I'm sure you'll be very happy together B)

Hope the choice of CW doesn't drive you to the point of insanity. Best to just carry buckets, a water supply and a washmitt with you at all times I think :D

Cheers,

Steve

No substitute for the real thing James! Those sorts of products fill me with dread, utter dread of just pulling all the grime and grit across the paintwork :o

Good Luck with the car...hope they have it with you for Christmas!

So what sort of lead time have you been given, I have just checked in with the lease company my company uses and mine isn't going to be coming until the end of October (Ordered last week).

Thanks matey. Deals offered were extremely close on figures. Fortunately this one has saved me a trip to Surrey. Thats where I was planning to head to.

Thats good. My dealer has indicated around 17/18 weeks. Possibly it may come forward. So taking into account the 3 wks shipping time also. It should roughly be late Nov or early Dec. Maybe sooner God willing!

Are you sure the 17-18 weeks isn't an overall delivery time estimate? Offering an estimate of when the car will come off the production line seems a bit daft as a first stab!

Think they are referring to the estimated build week number from now.

Not sure how it all works but I am advised that whatever build week it is to add an additional 3 weeks on top for shipping times. :'(

When is yours due? And when did you order?

It's a clone of mine but with the wrong engine!!

Happy motoring.

Wrong engine?! I'm a true petrol head.

Any pics of ur beast John?

Can't you see it in my sig?

Congratulations to EddGee,

I ordered mine last friday with the same extras minus the front parking sensors.

I went for silver again...even though I looked at the colour chart for nearly an hour!!

I rung the dealer Saturday to enquire about one of the optional extras and he told me I can alter the spec for the next 5-6 weeks if I wish?? And there was me thinking that as soon as I signed the invoice they would be pressing the body panels!! LOL

I was given a delvery time of late November but this may come forward a week or two.

I've had an offer on my current one that I can't refuse and it goes this week so until the new one comes I'll be driving around in a borrowed three cylinder 1.0 litre Dahatsu Sirion.......I think I'll be ready for the Octy when it arrives. LOL

Thanks for the kind words guys.

John I can see ur pictures in signature form. Any proper sexy full frontal close ups? know what I mean? ;) ;) :giggle:

Sounds nice.

I was in the same situation as you earlier today.

I umm'd and ahh'd about vRS but found once I spec'd up the car I wanted with DSG and a few toys it was pusing my budget even taking into account the VAT free saving.

In the end I plumped for a 10 plate Athracite Greg Laurin & Klement 1.8TSI DSG they had on the forecort. I has the exact spec I was after + the Columbus SAT Nav. It has electronic lumbar (very important due to back problems) and overall I felt it was a better buy than the vRS I could have ordered given all the variables.

I imagine you will be like a kid at Christmas for the next 12-16 weeks (this was the rough estimate I was given for build time) although this extra time will allow you to hone your car cleaning techniques as there is only one thing worse than a white car that looks dirty and thats a white car with white wheels that looks dirty, (my old car was a Astra VXR Nurburgring so I know this all too well).

Anyway I am rambling, I hope you enjoy the car mate :)

I ordered mid June and looking at week 34 build at the mo, so hopefully it will be with me mid Sept. The reason I questioned is that I didn't get a build week til 4 weeks after ordering!

Most excellent choice of colour! Now it;s just crossing the days off the calendar!

I ordered my Candy White vRS back in May, expecting end Aug / Early Sept. Sadly for some, good for other its another CR TDi.

Tried to talk business with Hobin but sadly they just couldnt give transparent figures which was frustrating.

They were nice and got test drives etc but I ended up taking my business back to Simpsons who sold me my first one (this was after getting the run around from Claybank)

Must be a Manchester thing....

The sooner that the Manchester masses realise that Claybank are a waste of space the better. Simpsons have always been great and are well worth the trip up

Sounds like Hobin are worth a look in too, so I'll drop by next time I need anything...

I recommend them mate. The sales manager at Hobin is ex Simpsons staff.

I never even gave Claybank a phone call! Called them previously for a quote for a service. They ain't competitive enough. Simple as that. Not gonna waste my time getting a new car quote from them when other dealers are blowing them out of the water on prices.

to be fair Claybank were great to me but then messed around with the PCP deal we had agreed on after I paid the deposit :(

Claybank were within £8 of Hobin for recent service quote.

TBH I wont use either of them however - should just stick with Simpsons as you say its worth the drive....

There is a new dealer in Warrington which opened yesterday. I'm trying out their service department tomorrow. I will write a review in the relevant section.
