AR or CB

Not AK as that is a min

New price is over £130

Realistic price is £30 - £55

Cheers Eddie - I will keep my eye out for one. Don't seem to be many at sensible prices on ebay.

For the improvements you'll be getting, yes too much emoticon-0149-no.gif

Found one a fair bit cheaper from Germany, on its way via UPS! I will be the guinea pig and see what happens.

Haha, well done! How much?

You confirmed the position of this on the Octy?

60 Euro - worth a punt I thought!

Haven't got a clue where it is. It is either behind the glovebox, in the passenger footwell, behind the fusebox or buried in the dash somewhere.

Hopefully I will find it b4 the whole dash has been taken out!!!

Anyone got any access to any workshop manuals that might help????

I'm sure it will be behind the glove box as there are quite a few wires going to it. Make screen shots of your coding before you remove the old one.

Remember to code the RLS for rain closing, and set the rain closing to permanent.

Cheers Eddie - thanks for that, it was going to be my approach.

You seem a bit of an expert on this subject!

Just need the CCM to turn up now!!

and me about the 30 Byte CECM for Cornering Fogs!

Go, on Eddie - what is the part number for that?

Top car, to a standard and spec I can only dream of!

Cheers Eddie - CCM is here so I might go and play in a minute or two!

If you still have the CECM in a month or so I might be tempted.........

Would the CECM upgrade just bring cornering fogs to the party?

Yes, that is the main feature.

Well fitted the CCM today and partial success - the old one has gone back in.

I managed to code the keys to it OK and rain closing works, plus I now have the convenience menu in Maxidot!

BUT

The one thing that didn't work (which is fairly major!!!) is that when you lock the car, the estate tailgate opens!!

I replicated the coding exactly as much as I could, but a couple of options for the rear tailgate were not present in the new module which seems to be the problem!

Do I need to go in to Coding II or Security Access to somehow tell the CCM it is fitted to an estate??

It threw up error codes about a fault in the rear lid circuit, and the fuel flap circuit with the new CCM.

When I did the Output tests, interestingly the test for the fuel flap lock actuated the tailgate unlock!

More research needed I think!

send a scan of both to Ross-Tech

they will give you a solution, as different tick boxes might need to be changed

Will do - in London all week with no access to VCDS (which was borrowed from a mate anyway) so will have to wait until the Bank Holiday weekend now. Cheers for your help Eddie.

Mike H - how are you fixed for next weekend to do some scans?

Eddie

Forgot to mention, when I took the old CCM out (AK) it had MAX printed on it, but VCDS picks it up as a MIN?

A bit odd that really - I wonder if it can be 'flashed' or anything to make VCDS pick it up as a MAX. I didn't get any Convenience menu in Maxidot until I fitted the new CCM.

Wonder what would happen if I fitted your old CCM to mine? Has it got the wrong label file attached to it perhaps?

Don't know, I am hoping to catch up with Mike H at the weekend and see what we can discover with 2 cars and 3 CCMs to look at!

Can I force VCDS to use the MAX label file instead of the MIN one and see if I can enable things?

Or is this something that can be turned on and off in the Security Access or Coding II sections of VCDS?

Being a newbie to VCDS I am just kind of making it up as I go along so don't want to change anything I can't reverse easily emoticon-0143-smirk.gif

Good stuff. See what you can uncover emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Don't really know enough about label files to be sure about that. Maybe a question to ask the Ross-Tech guys in the VCDS section?

I'll see what happens after trying it with Mike and then contact Ross-Tech and post in the VCDS section. I will get lots of screen shots of all the coding etc to see what they can make of it.

It may have Max printed on it but it is a MIN version.

My old T had max on it and it was a MIN

I think it has to do with how many doors it supports

when you did your screen shots did you do the coding by the bit and byte position or by the description of each?

By the description.

Some of the options were not listed in the CB MAX version, and nearly all of the options were in completely different bit and byte positions.

For example, for the tailgate, I did not have the following options listed anywhere on the CB

Byte 1 Bit 6 on the AK - Central Locking (Rear Lid) Central Locking Actuator installed

My coding on the AK was

19 D0 02 40 3F 3F 8F 0F C8 DF 86 10 04 CC

The only byte that had no options listed against it was the final byte, byte 13

From memory (I don't immediately have access to the BC), the BC had blank screens in the long Coding Helper for bytes 1,2 & 3.

I will refit it at the weekend and grab some screenshots.

Perhaps the most worrying point (apart from the tailgate, which at a guess is because of the bit controlling the rear lid actuator) is that the rear doors did not lock. The CB has printed on it that it is for a 4 door, and I had selected the bit for 4 door as well.

There was a bit for rear doors opterated by LIN (or something like that), it made no difference if that was 0 or 1.

Can't provide much more as stuck in a hotel in London with no VCDS access at the moment.
