You could try a 10:1 dilution of All Purpose Cleaner. Tesco do one called Daisy though there are plenty around.

Yep, use an APC of some kind. I use Meguiars for general cleaning (car and house!). This should lift the stain, then make sure you apply a leather cleaner/feeder after you've cleaned and dried the area. As an APC will dry the leather out.

Must be some pretty strong dog slobber :giggle:

Been amazed that my leather/suede seats have not been marked by 3 wet/muddy/cr@p covered dogs flying round the car every chance they get :D

  • 2 weeks later...

Invest in a car crate... I had an "L" shape one custom made to fit in estate and also extend over one side of folded back seat.... I have 2 Newfoundlands who can drool to Olympic standard, collect mud and shed hair, when I sold my last car I removed crate, hoovered and I promise you the buyer did not realise I had ever carried a dog in it... dust still migrates but it is safer for you and dog(s) and really does major job of keeping car in good condition. So, Barjo Engineering do now have a template for an extended crate for a vrs estate (floor is lower because it doesn't have the floor compartment ) and they also have more standard custom crate patterns for many cars.

Sorry to have gone beyond the cleaning aspect but I am firm advocate of dog crates, apart from keeping yr car in decent condition I think they are well worth considering for safety... my dogs have been brought up used to travelling in crates, some bright spark will always equate the cage to being imprisoned and tell you its cruel.... humbug, dogs don't think that way and will be much safer if anything goes wrong and emergency services need to deal with you and they are not faced with a loose terrified dog...

ps.... I have part leather and I remove any flying slobber with very mild soapy water then "feed" it with leather conditioner... dog saliva will eventually begin to digest unprotected leather ( just as it softens those hide chews which dogs like )

another ps... you should remove slobber from paintwork too...it is a powerful mixture of digestive saliva and other "juices" I have heard that it can dull the finish if left on too long on non-laquer coat type paint and certain colours
