Jumbo Box

Featured Replies

I'm hoping to fit a jumbo box to my Greenline at some point so I'm looking about to see what I can find that won't break the bank.

Spotted item 390168869018 on ebay, which looks like a good start, but as we're off on holiday I don't have the time right now to work out what other bits I'd need, but it might be of use to someone that's thinking of doing the same.

I have ordered my Greenline (Hatch Back) in May and is due to be delivered early Sept. I have selected the Option of Jumbo Box, but dealer messed up my order and the Option hasent gone to factory. I am eager to get Jumbo Box/Hand rest in my octavia. Could you let me know if you managed to fit the Jumbo Box onto your Greenline.

Thanks

If the dealer messed up your order, get them to order the parts in and fit it FoC, at time of PDI and before you accept the car :)

That doesn't look good value to me, considering it's without the armrest bit! I'd look out for Octavias being broken, often seen on eBay. And look for one that has the Jumbo box option. More common on Elegance/L&K models, for example.

Delaer advised me that they cant get the Jumbo Box as it is factory fitted option. Instead they offered me Either MDI device or Hands free kit.

MDI interface's worth around £160, before fitting. Handsfree obviously depends on what exactly they're offering.

Jumbo is a factory option, but that doesn't mean that the part's not available and that it couldn't be retrofitted. It's only a replacement for the standard central tunnel console anyway. You'd be amazed at what dealers say can't be done to the car afterwards! ;)

£160 for MDI :wonder: :wonder: Dealer advised me including fitting and other MDI adapter( USB+IPOD+AUX) its gona cost him £350 . They offered me Parrot MKI 9200 hands free as option if dont want to go for MDI which is around £199 (Excluing Fitting)

I dont want holes on my NEW CAR Dashboard to install Parrot kit, so i would rather go for MDI to be installed in Glove box.

Pretty sure that's the stock price for the part, would need to double-check to be 100% though. As they've made a muck up though, I can't see how fitting the MDi would stand him at £350!

I certainly know the 9200 is available for less than £200 for the kit though! Link

Parrot kit install wouldn't necessarily mean holes in the dash, if done properly! That can always be avoided these days, with a no-holes from Bracket from Brodit/Dashmount/Scorpion. Obviously the Parrot route would give you phone support, plus music playback.

Which dealer is this?

I have my parrot 3100 fixed on with double sided velcro tape so no holes either, works fine

I've seen this advertised before, and think it's pretty expensive bearing in mind it says that the armrest isn't included, as I think the armrest is the most expensive part

Ah, that makes sense as it was them that told me they'd priced it up for someone else and it was about 5-600 quid, hence my thought that the part on eBay wasn't bad.

The catch being that the Jumbo box isn't an option on the Greenline; don't know why but it's not. The factory fit options on the Greenline are very limited

Here you go, Ex-VAT prices for the MDI fitting:

MDI unit: 5N0 035 342 B - £150.61

fly lead holder trim: 4F0 035 909 - £1.55

Fly lead: 1Z0 971 199 - £58.24

iPod to MDI lead: AZO 800 001 - £22.13

To be totally correct and OEM, you need an all-in-one glovebox light and room for the lead, but you can get it round quite nicely without.

Oh, and you need an MDI box to Headunit cable. No known P/N for this, so you can either make it up yourself or get a made one from Kufatec. That'll be about £40. Try Richter Sport who are one of their UK distributors.

So perhaps the dealer's not too far off. I must have just had the main unit price in my head, without factoring in the extra bits (why do these always add up to make this sort of thing much more expensive?!)

So MDI fitting is the best 'make-up' option from the dealer I reckon!

Hope this helps,

Steve

Probably to make the manufacturing process more environmentally friendly.... ;)

(sorry, I'll get my coat)

In seriousness, sometimes this sort of model they try to keep options to a minimum, to reduce hassle! And maybe to get people to order other models instead, if they REALLY want other options?

Sorry, I'd presumed it was a dealer mistake from what the OP said, in that they'd mistakenly not processed it on the order, rather than the option not physically being possible.

Retrofitting's still possible though :D

Cheers,

Steve

Well in the Octavia Broucher they showed me for Greenline Hatchback ''Jumbo Box'' is a factory fitted option.

Dealer advised me the Option i have selected has never made it to factory order. Hence its a dealer mistake that they havent processed the order on skoda ordering system correctly.

Thanks for the info about MDI, Steve.
