Christmas traffic chaos

Featured Replies

I decided to take a trip to our local Tescos at about 10 o'clock this morning for a few messages - milk, rolls, the papers and something for SWMBO and the boys to have for lunch.

Met a traffic jam leading from the Tesco car park to a roundabout 100 yards away

Abandoned shopping trip and got what most of what I needed from the corner shop. Sorry folks, you're getting Cheesy Pasta for lunch

I assume the traffic was caused by people rushing to get their Crimbo grub. Why leave it so late? I got all my food shopping finished last weekend

All I need now is booze to make up for what we've drunk this week so far :drunk::drunk:

When and did our monthly shop at six yesterday morning - saw 8 other shoppers:D

Best idea - our local (where SWMBO works) is open 24 hours...she'll confirm best time is early am after night shift have restocked and before the invasion

Getting my shopping delivered tomorrow morning, been on order for weeks now :)

As for Traffic it was building up on the M6 Northbound as I drove south from J21 to J12 the A5, but having said that the main delay northbound was a Wide Load blocking two lanes.

Did our last food shop last night around 11pm.... was heaving even then!!!

Our vegetables have just arrived.....

The rest should be delivered later tonight.

I went to the Doctor's to pick up a prescription at lunchtime, it's near a small parade of shops, where there's a greengrocer. There's normally loads of parking, but it was heaving today -and the greengrocers was queued out of the door!

Luckily the Doctor's and Chemist's were empty, or I'd still be there! I don't understand the mad rush -the shops are only shut for 2 flippin' days! And our local Budgens is open on Boxing day.

Was planning on doing an online shop, but in the end decided I didn't want the hassle of substitutions or items being out of stock and needing to panic buy at the last minute so we did a big shop last weekend. Popped in yesterday for the vegetables and a fresh chicken and again today for alcohol. It was absolutley heaving and the worst part is the abandoned trolleys and people just stopping where they like. Still, armed with a basket I could nip round in about 10 minutes and funnily enough the only completely empty checkouts were the basket ones. Lucky old me ;)

Next challenge is to eat the mountains of food I've bought :D

Man, your sprouts will be manky by Saturday! I've been out to get all the veg today. I'm glad I picked up the meat yesterday: the queue at the butchers is up to 2 hours today! I got there yesterday at 7.30am, in the rain...and still had to queue!

Traffic is madness today. Best to stay at home! Went to the city centre today and traffic was totally gridlocked everywhere. All for one stupid day that most people don't even believe in! Silly or what!

Sprouts are of the frozen variety.............. :D

Sausagemeat, sausages, bacon and turkey are in freezer too - bird being taken out tonight to defrost :chicken:

Spuds (King Edwards) and carrots are in a nice cool dark cupboard.

All seems well under control.................should I be worried :rubchin:

Not been too bad today on the roads? had a commute to another office which was QUICKER than normal. and getting in my local supermarket has been OK, busy, but OK. :)
