My vRS

Featured Replies

Due to all the posts about faulty cars I thought we don't want to give any potential buyers a bad idea.

So yet again my vRS worked perfectly, all the way to work and all the way home again!

The Octavia Mk1 vRS is one damn fine motor car.

Mine is also working perfectly (touches wood) Nearly had her a year. I think with all forums you mainly see the bad.

Mine is being pretty well behaved at the moment. I have one or two little jobs to do when I get a minute

Fit RARB

Replace fuel filter

Replace rear exhaust rubber hanger

Rotate tyres front to back

Check all the vac hoses etc.

but nothing that affects the day-to-day running of the car really. Still do 36 miles a day every day in mine no trouble

Had to replace the suspension with coilovers the other week but then you expect the suspension to be worn out by the time a car's done 130,000 miles!

and mine is running perfect, no problems to report at all

had my 120k vrs 3 years and never let me down or missed a beat, only spent cash on the normal wear n tear parts or bits i've wanted to change. never had to spend any unwanted cash because its broke or had any troubles that most be have had/got., its probably the most reliable car i've owned B)

Your in good hands, I've done 55k miles in the last two years and she hasn't missed a beat!

My motor has never missed a beat over the last 3 1/2 years of ownership

Funny my neighbours think the car is the most unreliable car they have seen and always ask "what is broken with it this time", as i am always under the bonnet, or the car is up in the air.

It's beause I can't stop tweaking something, swapping something, replacing something, cleaning something or just staring at it. :giggle:

My mrs is jealous as she states i never stare at her the same way....

They seem to be the same as any good car/woman. Look after them and they will look after you.

You don't need to throw a load of money at them just to keep them sweet, just give them a little tlc and compassion

90k on mine, had it for 65 of that.

Failures so far -

Indicator relay

Front arb/bushes (known fault)

All done under warranty in the first year I had it.

Can't bring myself to get rid, it's a great all round car.

done 20 thousand in mine, love it

have a clonk which is the dogbone bush hopefully and thats it .

all good here

lol i need re assurance like this, going to pick mine up later on today :)

Woah, thats rather an achievement. I've just got back from Australia yesterday Rob, just across the pond from NZ! Seen 1 octavia VRS the whole time, don't think the skoda badge is welcome over there lol

They've only had them for about 3 years. The Mk2 Octavia was the first Skoda officially imported there followed by the Mk2 Fabia.

In NZ we've had the Octavia 1 and Fabia 1 first so they've had more time to establish. They're just starting to become more common.

Most New Zealanders seem to fondly remember an old Skoda Rapid or similar from their youth, but have that "Skodas are rubbish" attitude in the back of their minds.

I think in Aus they're just a bit of an unknown quantity compared to the standard Mazda 6, Subaru Legacy, Falcon or Commodore.

Lots of people say to me "Nice car, what is it?" and are either surprised it's a Skoda or have never heard of the brand!!

Yeah i seen **** loads of Mazda 6's looks surprisingly similar at a distance lol

It's the same story in England though, someone says they have a skoda, its a bit of a joke because of the laughably unreliable previous models but since under VAG ownership they might as well just be a VW/Seat/Audi now, still though, people won't change! I think its funny
