Question For 0% Owners

Featured Replies

Anyone who has a vrs on 0%-on your registration document

who is the registered keeper you or vag?

Just need to know as im shopping for insurance.

Has to be you surely ? Or VAG would be responsible for your camera speeding tickets !

Seriously - you have to be the registered keeper

It will be you without any doubt, not Skoda Finance. Not a 0% buyer but I know the answer or I will eat my vrs cap should I be wrong:rolleyes:

I've got mine on 0%, I am waiting for the V5 at the moment. I will let you know what it says - I expect to be shown as the registered keeper. In fact under the Consumer Credit Act as I have paid over 30% the finance company have no power to reposess the car - they would have to take me to court.

Mine is going to arrive sometime this week hence it is not registered yet, if i call up and ask for it to be registered in my mums name can they do that?

Bought an Octy Elegance TDI Hatch on 0% - My V5 says I'm the registered keeper-new at 1st registration. Really chuffed with it apart from the lack of "drinks cabinet" which the wife's Fabia has. ( Fabia owners will know what I'm on about !)

I would say it is you who owns it on the V5 and insurance, but your finance paperwork will have the clause in it that if you forfeit any payments due, the car is and will remain Skoda UK's (or who-ever provides the finance) property until all payments are done.

Q.

I read somewhere that the "Registered Keeper" is not the "Legal Owner" and are 2 separate things.

So your mum would be the "Registered Keeper" and appear on the V5, and VAG Finance would be the "Legal Owner" untill the end of the finance agreement.

Picking up my Octavia Elegance this evening on 0%, the dealer asked us who we wanted to be registered keeper ie me or my wife. I believe it used to say on V5 or the leaflet you get with it that V5 was not proof of ownership.

Just bought a vRS on 0%

My V5 arrived last week. Checked that it had the right car model after threads here (it did) and didn't notice anything else untoward.

Regards,

Mark

What model was described on it Mark? RS or VRS?

ydnpa,

You are right - the V5 shows the registered keeper and has nothing to do with ownership. The contract/receipts from the dealer or finance agreement are the proof of ownership.

Quinten has it spot on - the main difference between HP/Finance and an unsecured loan is that with HP/Finance you don't own the car until tyou make that final payment. With a loan, the car is yours. However, if you were to default on your loan payments, I'm sure the bailiffs wouldn't be averse to towing away your pride and joy!

You don't get 0% unsecured loans though!!

Dead easy to fit your own...I did mine for about 50 quid, and,

as it can hold 12 330ml cans, it's bigger than the Fabia chilled

glovebox. And you don't lose your glovebox space. And it

can heat things too... :D

Rob.

Rob - can we have a pic sometime? Or is there one already in place somewhere?

Yeah, if you like...I'll probably write a short installation guide too if there's demand.

Could be something to keep me occupied at the weekend! :D

RS IIRC. Close enough, I thought - at least it wasn't a 1.9 TD :D

I can check to be certain if you want.

Regards,

Mark

I was just wondering as the older models where described as RS-T, whereas the newer ones as VRS.

Yeah, if you like...I'll probably write a short installation guide too if there's demand.

lo Fridge Magnate :D :D :D

Write that guide...

ANOTHER QUESTION:

The car is on its way over from czech, on a boat somewhere, so it is not registered to anyone yet, if i called up skoda tomorrow and asked for them to register it in my mums name with my mum's agreement can they do it hassle free?

The dealer does the registration application with the DVLC I believe, I suggest you give your dealer a call to discuss Im sure he will only be too pleased to advise you - he's the expert and its all part of the service.
