Maf issues..

Featured Replies

Today was driving to work, about 5miles into the journey, car lost power past 2000 rpm.

Car wouldn't deliver any meaningful accelaration after 2000 rpm. no warning lights, no black smoke.

Dropped a few gears to get the engine to rev into 3000,3500 rpm, foot to the floor, nothing. Just slow ass

Pulled over, stopped engine, checked maf connection, seemed very loose, wiggle replugged it in, and set off again.

Car's back to normal, full power restored.

Can't work out why the maf connector was maybe slightly loose - car was in Skoda for warrenty work the day before (wheel bearing noise), so can't work out if it was dislodged by them or not.

Anyway is there a way of buying a new Maf connector plug (the lead end)?? I managed to break the internal plastics of the connector (red plastic bit) as I yanked out the plug tonight (when I was re-checking the connector)

And what's the deal with lack of power?

are you sure its not sticky turbo veins as this would cause your symptoms also try unpugging the maf and then driving as it should drive better if it was the maf but i would be looing more towards the first issue

Do 100bhp tdi's have variable vane turbos???

I thought it was only on 130 (ie VRS) bhp engines?
