Wheel spacers

Featured Replies

I am wondering if anyone has had experience with the fitting of hub centric spacers on their VRS. I run standard 16 inch alloys and am wanting them to fill the arches a little better. What would be the ideal size of spacers for the front and the rear. Is their any benefit to handling and do they wear out the bearings quickly. Is it better not to bother, i am confused :S

For - might make the car look better

Against - you'll probably need longer wheel bolts and you'll put more strain on the wheel bearings

Don't do it, the wheel bearing are prone to failure as it is, let alone with extra loading due to spacers.

That is the general Consensus, what sort of space are you looking adding?

Thanks everyone, I was lookimg to put 10mm hubcentric one on each wheel, not sure now though.

Adding spacers on the back wheels is a poular mod and shouldn't upset anything but on the front is not a good idea, just puts too much strain on the front steering/suspension/wheel bearings. Normally adding spacers is to correct ET values when changing to different wheels that are not normally compatable.

I've got 10mm rear ones on, to fill out the rear arches. not had a problem at all to be honest. :)

Thanks again everyone.

I will probably add 10 mm to the rear and leave the fronts alone as per your suggestions, great forum and great bunch of people.
