Fabia tdi pd 100 or vrs pd130

Featured Replies

Hi,

In terms of performance I hear that it is difficult to get the power down on a remapped vrs (170-180bhp/290 lb/ft ) compared to a pd100 (145-151bhp, 236 lb/ft) - so why pay the extra money - any comments !

Also, trying to locate tdi pd100 owners that have had remap (preferably revo)

Best wishes

John

Because of the hunger for more, more, MORE power. It also depends on how you drive it. If you rev the nuts before dropping the clutch and drive like a loon, you will be wheelspinning at 50mph and sliding round corners no matter what. If you let the tyres grip first, you won't have half as much of a problem.

PD100 owners include Devonutopia and Any Ellis.

The reasons I went for the vRS over the 100 TDi were:

- 6-speed gearbox

- More comfortable seats

- Less childish interior trim

- I find the standard steering wheel really ugly (I know it's petty, but you spend a long time behind it!)

But then, I don't want to chip it.

I don't know of anyone who's revo'd a pd100 yet?

Anyway, mine's up to 151bhp, but 280 lb/ft, not 236. Getting power down is OK. I rarely get 3rd gear wheelspin like the vRS do, but then my 3rd is also probably higher ratio as well, having a 5 speed box. Definitely can light up 1st and 2nd though.

Why extra money? Gives you the car to enjoy driving, actually increases mpg when driven normally (higher torque means less need for revs I think) I get better marginal mpg under normal driving than before. The torque - 280lb/ft is lovely to have and fifth gear pulling from say 60 to *cough 70 ;) is well quick. :D

Having had a remapped pd100 and the remapped vrs I would say the latter is quite a bit quicker in a straight line. You woudl certainly notice a big difference

Getting the power down if your'e heavy footed in the wet in both cars can be tricky - vrs more so and you have to drive with more care in lower gears.

Handling/grip on the vrs is not a huge leap over the pd100. Always found the pd100 quite nimble even before suspension mods.

I dont find much problem even getting 340 lbft down, it all depends on how you dirve it. There is a technique to driving the vRS, it isnt foot flat down. Progressive throttle control will easily beat planting you foot and waiting for things to spool up.

Yep it depends on your style, can easily get all my power down (155bhp/280lb) but it needs car, but what car wouldnt at these levels????

I don't have much of a problem getting the power down. If you adapt your driving to suit the car, you will have no problems.
