Headlight flicker on fabia 2001 sdi

Featured Replies

My 2001 fabia sdi has a problem with the side lights and headlights flickering. The battery is 12.6V and charges at 14V. It must be quite a draw on the battery as it drops approx 0.5V when the lights flicker. Can anyone please offer advice as to the cause.

PAS drawing anything up to 60 Amps, or steering angle sensor may be faulty. Also a sign of a tired battery.

Thanks MoggyTech the battery is not very old so it looks like the steering.

I had the exact same thing recently in my vRS.

A new battery cured the problem completely.

I put a powerful Varta battery in mine.

When you say not old chick? How old?

And is it the right type for your car. A fairly beefy battery is required for

a diesel Fabia.

I'm sure Moggytech will be able to confirm what amp battery is right for the SDI.

Or if the one in my link is suitable for an SDI. It is fine for a Vrs though and a decent price

and a great seller in my experience. .

My mrs has a SDI but the car is in Bristol and I can't check for you right now.

Hers still has the original battery in it believe it or not. At nearly 95k it is starting to get tired

and her lights flicker when she steers / uses power windows / Rear screen and mirror demisters etc

But the steering is what's really pulling on the battery when driving the car around.
