HI everyone, I have just ordered my Elegance 2.0TDI DSG 140, upgrading from a Superb 1, and in anticaption I have downloaded the manuals for the car and sat nav to learn as much as possible before taking delivery of the car in November. I have opted for the Amethyst, totally unseen I hope it is good as I hope.

How many DVD/CD's can the unit take at a time? The handbook makes no mention of this aspect and I suspect that the navigation DVD is the first to be inserted, but what happens if you wish to play a video DVD or an audio CD? Can these also be inserted and activated without having to remove the navigation DVD, or is this loaded onto the built in 30GB hard drive?

I'm finding reading the instruction book a bit daunting as it is clearly written by someone who fully understands the system and assumes that everyone does as well which is not the case.

Can the phone also be voice controlled?

I can't comment on the colour itself, like you I have never seen it, but some recent discussions have suggested that this colour is currently giving rise to extended lead times.

The navigation software is loaded onto the 30GB hard disk leaving approximately 20GB free for digital audio files. These you can load either from a data format CD or DVD, or a SD memory card. I'm becoming very tempted to try and alter my order to include the MDI option.

Can the phone also be voice controlled?

I believe so. I'm also banking on our vehicles having support for both HFP and rSAP bluetooth connectivity.

If you are thinking of this, get your dealer to check what effect it will have on lead time. I changed my order after 3 weeks and that put the approximate delivery date back from end of May to end of July - its since slipped again to mid September.

Aparently your original order will need to be cancelled & a new one placed, so will suffer the extended lead-times. Thats the story I've been told, dunno how true it is? - Just double check before you change anything.

I my case (when I added the heated windscreen) I asked if it was going to alter the build/delivery date, as if it would then I would not include it, I was told:

"The factory have accepted an amendment to the order, so it will not affect the delivery date."

Don't however take this for granted double check.

Thanks for the heads-up, I'll bear that in mind. I suspect this maybe the case once a build-date has been assigned to the order. That would put my delivery back at least eight weeks :( .

I wouldn't mind retrofitting the MDI, but the OEM kits I have seen are 33% more than the factory fit option. Maybe I'll wait and see if the combination of HDD and SD card slot is sufficient for my needs. I believe it should also be possible to stream audio from a suitably equipped bluetooth phone.
