Mintex pads changed back to Skoda

Featured Replies

Got my Mintex front pads (only 2-3 months old) changed yesterday. I finally got fed up with the Mintex squeal and constantly having to lube the back of the pads with either copper grease or a special pad formulation from pagid.Swapped them for a set of skoda oem pads. massive difference in feel and squeel. The skoda ones do not squeel and stopping is better and feels smoother. i..e there's more pedal feel and it doesn't feel vague.

Just thought i;d mention this as when I bought the mintex pads it was because people gave them glowing reviews. The mintex discs seem good but their pads are crap so if you do suffer from squeal change back to oem or live with it. I personally couldn't.

Mintex also make more than one type of pad.

I have yet to have any Mintex pads squeal on me.

We have had no problems with Mintex in the past and would normally recommend them along with Ferodo and OEM brakes.

If they were standard Mintex, then our other Fabia has them on the front and they are silent.

I've been using Mintex for eons, and rate them as one of the best pads out there.

I've got mintex pads on mine and the fronts sqeal like a bitch !

When there nackered I'll be sticking some 312s on :)

I've got mintex discs and pads with my 312's and they're fine. I also had mintex discs and pads with my old cars 240mm and 260mm brakes and they didn't squeel at all!

both sets of mintex I tried squealed.Maybe the pad material. But they were standard mintex ones, not fast road or anything like that

Skoda don't manufacture brake pads.

However they fit "Feroda' pads, as they did to my 2005 Fabia VRS during manufacture.

The 'Feroda' pads had anti-squeal material pads fitted to back as a fixture, unlike the 'Mintex' pads I later fitted, which didn't. (But never squeal, but had pad slap, which I resolved.)
