PD160 intake + K&N

Featured Replies

Well I've just fitted the new intake and filter, and took the car out for a quick test drive, I was expecting nothing from this mod, I have it purely for when I get the car remapped. The engine was cold when I drove down my street, the gear change from 1st to 2nd was so much smoother, the car bearly lurched or hesitated, it felt a lot more like a petrol engined car. Due to the engine being cold I drove at a regular speed and again the engine just felt a lot smoother.

Once the engine had warmed up (which just so happened to be when I got to a dual carriageway), I put my foot down and omg, how do people think that this mod makes no difference? Ok so the car didnt feel any faster, but it kept on going pretty much to the redline, the powerband is so much longer than previously.

As I said, I expected nothing from this mod and this is not a placebo effect, the car felt way better to drive.

Thanks to "OctaviaVRS" for selling the items, seems like a fair amount of cash for no improvement in performance, but imho is worth every penny due to the increase in driving pleasure.

I agree with you, I fitted one on my Ibiza with a cotton filter as well!!! Me and a good friend had the same cars and we were always at a dead heat on stints. Soon as I fitted the PD160 and filter I pulled away from him!! :) Not by loads but every little helps! :D

Same set up as me. Well worth it.

You're getting more air in with the PD160 intake now, so on what basis are people saying it makes no difference?

Has been a standard mod to do for at least 5 years now. They should be fitted as standard

I'm just going off what I've read in various posts. It seems that there is no definitive answer, but I don't care about that now, I know the answer for myself :D

You knows it! :p

I would love to have a proper comparison of my car before and after. Just got in from work and I annihalated a Cooper S, literally flew past him after he undertook me (yes I know it's not big and clever).

I could tell straight away that the throttle response was loads better!!!!

But got my PD160 for £10 , and worthn every penny :wonder: but still great
