Superb II Estate TDi Elegance - how many owners on here?

Featured Replies

Come on, show yourselves

My Dad's expressed an interest in one of these, 2WD with either CR140 or 170. Probably with DSG.

Was just after canvassing opinions, ownership happiness etc, but I appreciate there might not be that many around.

Also need to track one down for test-drive, that's not too far away :)

Thanks,

Steve

There are currently just 10 members with the Combi who have filled in the MK2 register.

You will be very lucky to find a 140CR Combi (I couldn't) so i tested the engine in a Roomster - suffice to say i have ordered a 170CR!

The 170CR DSG Elegance Combi i test drove was TBH a bit disappointing, the DSG was not particularly smooth going into 1st or reverse, that coupled with all of the horror stories that are about concerning the DSG I decided to go with the manual.

The engine is smooth and quiet, but feels lacking compared to the 130PD emoticon-0106-crying.gif (totally different driving experience) Ben @ Shark hower claims that if you remap the 170CR it drives much more like a 130PD .

Find one and test drive it .... it's one helluva motor! just be prepared for a long wait if he orders a new one.

ill be an owner soon.. :p

Mine should arrive mid September, can't wait!

170CR TDi - the engine of choice if you read the reviews, and the only one I tested.

Still haven't seen another Estate on the road though.

Skoda UK did a good job in providing CR170 DSG Elegance demonstrators to their dealer network at the launch of the estate earlier this year. That combined with the fact that the PD140 was only superceeded by the CR140 in June has significantly helped the CR170 to be by far the most common choice as far as I can see from comments on this forum.

I've yet to be proved right or wrong in ordering a CR140. While I didn't have chance to drive a Skoda CR140 before placing my order, I am quietly confident that having driven a Honda Accord Estate 140PS CR diesel contentedly for the past four years I'll be happy with my choice. However they got me on the DSG, this will be my first automatic.

Still haven't seen another Estate on the road though.

I've only seen two. One was Rosso Red in Nottingham which looked ok, the other was on the M1 in Aqua Blue which somehow didn't suit the car IMHO. I thought I might have spotted Rainworth Skoda's Black and Steel Grey demonstrators out and about in the local area.

Best regards

David

I test drove the Black demo car at Rainworth when it was brand new. hadn't even finished its PDI. only had 9 miles on the clock.

Did you order yours from there?

For test driving, the dealers in Preston have a 170 (I think). The dealer on Bury new road (north Manc) had some a few months ago, not sure what they have now or the spec though. I'd guess all the demonstrators you'll see will be elegance, to try & up the sales value as much as poss. The dealer at M60 trafford/Eccles had a 170 DSG saloon back in Feb, so that might have changed now.

Yes, Rainworth are closest to my employer and provided an excellent pre-sales service. As this is a company vehicle I left the haggling over price to the guy that looks after the company fleet. He tries to use the local dealer where ever possible.

I believe the Steel Grey demonstrator I had back in April was actually Bickerton Skoda's vehicle so that is probably back in the Sheffield area. Bickerton and Rainworth Skoda are under common ownership so share resources. I drove their Black demonstator at the beginning of June immeadiately before making my final decision. As you would expect they pile the optional extras onto the demonstrators, I never had the guts to play with the park assist.

What suprised me was the biege interior of the Black demonstrator you drove was beginning to look a bit grubby, there was a definate dark patch on the drivers seat where people had been sliding in and out. Was a bit to 'yellow' for me anyway, it is a shame that the Sand coloured leather interior available on the Yeti isn't an option on the Superb.

This is exactly the same as the one i test drove, yet some still insist that ivory leather IS a practical colour to live with! It does make the darker coloured cars especially look amazing, but i for one will never have light coloured leather again (had it in 2 cars and a pair of sofas).

The ivory plastics round the seat base were quite scuffed as well, at least the carpets and mats were black. IMHO not a good colour unless you enjoy interior valeting. :) Needless to say I went for black.

Thanks for all of that guys, most useful.

As for demos, Simpsons Colne/Preston would be my dealer of choice, and I've heard good things about Hobin in Manchester, so would take a look there. Wouldn't touch Claybank (M60/Eccles dealer) with a very, very long stick!

Cheers,

Steve

IMHO..... Skoda did a poor job of getting 170 Manual's on line to test drive - we couldn't find one! (in the North East & Yorkshire anyway!)

loads of 170 DSG's, but as i was buying a 4x4, the DSG was not an option. i ended up driving a 140 Hatch...

my Estate 170 4x4 Elegance has 5,500 miles on now (16 weeks yesterday) and is going really well, averaging around 44-50 mpg, depending on driving style and what mood i'm in.

Seats are comfy, it's quiet, handles well, gearbox is nice and altho you cant feel it kicking in, the 4x4 makes the car stick to the road well.

I've the same car on order for January. First time I've ever ordered a car without having driven it first. Demos are impossible to get.

I'm in Ireland and the 1.9Tdi seems to be the only version on demo anywhere. I've been told there have been zero 4x4 sold here, to date.

Don't worry, you wont be disappointed! - i sure wasn't!

i was also told that upon ordering, there was no other 4x4 Estate's in the UK with the 170 CR engine - there was a few V6's floating around...

Let me know if you want photo's and i'll send some details over for you - what Colour have you ordered? Any options?

Al.

Tell your Dad to treat himself and order the V6 Estate! Really smooth, both DSG and engine! After a few years, he'll change it for something else and probably give it to you! ;)

I've ordered

Mocha Brown, metallic, with black leather interior, Rough-road package, Hill-hold, Trifid wheels and extra tint on glass from B-pillar back.

I had mine over in the UK back at the end of april for 10 days, and travelled just under 2,500 km's and didn't see another estate, having said that I have not come across another one here in Ireland either, so they must be rare here too.

Will be back in UK next month, with my briskoda sticker, so hope to be spotted by some of you and also see who I can spot, travelling through wales, cotswolds, south coast to somerset, and back through wales again.

As far as lead times go, I was told 20/24 weeks when I ordered my on 23rd April.

Car now at dealer and I'm taking delivery 1st Sept. 19 weeks wait.

Pleased to read reports above re Ivory interior. Looked great in the showroom but my cars have to be workhorses, so opted for the black.

Kept wondering if I'd made the right choice, but looks like I did.

I managed to test-drive a secondhand 4x4 hatch, and bought the new car from the same dealer.

Delighted with my Estate too. It does so many things well.

Sounds good,

I have a silver metallic, with Black leather, Tinted windows B back, Park Assist, MDI, Heated screen, Heated Washer's and Matts :)

What's involved with the "Rough Road Package"? - Does that explain why your elegance has 17" over the 18" Wheels?

17" are standard, 18" an option. Even 17" are asking for trouble, especially with the 225/45 tyres, as bad road surfaces are endemic around here.

I think the "Rough Road" package is metal sump and gearbox cover, I don't think it has any suspension change.

Quite frankly I could have done without the 18" alloy wheels which are standard on the UK spec Elegance, it's not as if UK roads are universally great :) .

Seems to me that the benefit of 18" wheels on a big estate car is purely asthetic (which is entirely subjective) and you are paying more out for new tyres. 16" or 17" would have been fine, then they could have probably afforded to keep a full alloy spare as part of the standard spec.

I've got a Storm Blue metallic 170 elegance (ivory int) on-order (due w/c 6th Sept, ordered end April)

Very much looking forward to it - took a look round a demonstrator and had an extended test drive in the hatch back (same spec) - fantastic car.

Company car and have choosen this over an A6 Avant 170/ V70 2.4d/Honda Accord Tourer 180/BMW 5 series estate/Merc E250 estate on basis of best mix of great drive/more kit/space/comfort/lower tax and a bit of an anarchists choice - ie rare on the road and and a bit different to the usual co car foder.

looking forward to taking delivery.

Who's your dealer? :)

I cant believe how long Skoda are taking to get the Superb out of the factory now - i ordered mine on the 25th of Feb, it was delivered to dealers 26th April and to me 28th April!

With regard to 18" Wheels, if anyone does want to part with them, i will assist you in doing so by handing over cash :) i would like a 2nd set to run during winter months.

I choose mine over the Audi (price) Volvo XC 70 and V70 AWD (price and old-man'ness)!

Al.
