I have some anoying noise in the left side off the car. I have replaced the plastic but have difficult to hear were it comming from.

Some with the same problem??

I have the same thing, tends to happen when driving over any road surface that's not completely flat or straight, at between about 30 and 80 mph - like a "ticking" noise. No idea what it is yet though, sorry ! :(

Someone else who has find the problem??...:(

It's the door hooks (the mechanism on the doors). It's plastic an in summer it dries and makes this noise. apply spray greese on all four :)

I bought some STP Silicone Spray Lubricant which produced spectacular result when sprayed on a corner carousel unit in the kitchen. The carousel was noisy and used to stick when rotated. After spraying the bearing surfaces, it now spins so fast that pots and pans won't stay on it.

Back to the point - and I am not an agent for STP. The spray is described as a non-greasy lubricant designed to handle tough lubrication jobs without leaving an oily mess or smell. It is quick-drying silicone spray which clings to a surface and will not drip or run. The manufacturer recommends it be used to lubricate seals, hoses, doors, locks, window mechanisms, switches, belts, pulleys etc. I used the spray to effect a permanent cure of dreadful squeak coming from the clutch pedal pivot on a Lotus Elise.

This type of product sounds like it would be ideal to cure noises coming from door hooks, but maybe also from suspension bushes which some members have found to be a source of unwanted noise, and from plastic trim.

Based on Denis' recommendation I'm off down to Halfords to get some.

Cheers Denis

Are we talking about the hinges or the locks here ?

Had a bit of a noise yesterday from the drivers side rear door. Turned out the window had winded its way down just a tad, and the noise was just air seeping thru' a tiny gap. So, I just wound it up tight, job done! (I like those kind of quick fixes... :D)

I tell you what I hate in the Fabia is the noise the wind makes esp if the rear windows are fully open and the car is going about 50-60mph. Try it but be warned it is very distracting!:eyecrazy:

Is this a sort of rapid thumping noise? Octavia does it the same,

it's really great for teaching people not to open windows when

the A/C is on... :D

Rob.

I hate that buffeting noise too. Really hurts my ears - almost as if the pressure was being radically altered in the cabin...?

The only way I have found to stop the buffeting, if they won't put the window up, is to open the driver's window just a sliver. Must be some kind of moderating influence?

The Golf suffers from it the Octavia to a lesser extent, from my experiences. I have found the window lock button which disables the people in the backs control over their windows really useful. I also it appears the as if the pressure is changing, but I suppose it is just the wind buffeting against the widow, a knid of wake turbalance effect. Ahh the price we pay for aerodynamics.

I know what you mean!! I used good ole WD40 on a carousel which was loaded with food and squeaked like hell - went to spin it (didn't realise how quickly the WD40 would work) and almost embedded half of the cans in the walls of the unit!! :D
