Your Current MPG...

Featured Replies

My commute is ~18 miles each way, and in my 1.4 16v it's an oddity to get below 50MPG average on the trip

The engine really loves doing 50 in fifth, which is pretty much what I'm doing the whole way. Although the route does have some fabulous roads so it's tempting to have a bit of fun sometimes. On a 'fun' run I expect 40-45MPG usually.

In town 40 is usual, as I have a pretty economical driving style (I'm in 4th by 25mph, and slowing down I won't change out of 5th until I'm at about 25)

All in the Petrol 1.4 16v....who needs a diesel :p

Going by the trip 46.8mpg over 1988miles

Recently got 540 miles from a full tank. I was well into the reserve when I bottled it and filled up. That was on a run from Cornwall to Manchester and back. 50mph average speed limits crap for journey times. good for economy! Oh and caravans on the A30!

60.2 mpg over the last 2000 miles

the best iv'e had on a trip from sheffield to dewsbury was 89 mpg, it was at night so the temperature in the air was cooler also not much traffic and it was dry.

all these people who wait untill there cars are in the red could be damaging the cars i NEVER leave it that long to fill up

Are those both the computer or actual measured statistics? If the former they can't be trusted as I've demonstrated.

See below :)

on mode 2 i get 52mpg and about 550 miles to a tank but i do fill the little tank up other wise id do 3 tanks a week

driving fabia 1.4tdi 75. best consumption was 96.5mpg on journey from livingston to cumbernauld. also managed to get 1007 miles out of a full to the brim tank.

Am I right in thinking your Fabia has the same tank as the vRS - 9.8 gals or so? if so that means you have averaged approx 102 MPG?

I am not saying you havent acheived this figure but that seems a bit unlikely to me - even in the super economical 1.4 TDi

Hi im new to the forum and skoda! i work for ford and drove a focus sport for a few years! Any way i brought a fabia vrs for its price and m.p.g compared to my focus tdci which wasnt very good on fuel compared to the fabia not to mention the speed!

love the fabia great little car, anyway i have owned it for just 3-4 weeks now and my trip says 48.9 with A and B road driving not driving slow nor fast fast if you get me! usually 430 miles to a tank of fuel there abouts give or take a little some times it drops to 44.5 when driven a little harder.

just a quick not as im not 100% sure the picture on the m.p.g at the top of this page reads 60 odd mpg or 70 odd it has a little black 1 next to it isnt this the instant mpg and the next one round with a little 2 next to it is average m.p.g?? Thanks Damien. o great forum some good stuff on here. o forgot mention its a 53 plate fabia

The reading that changes constantly as you drive is your instantaneous reading, the reading shown in the pic above with the '1' next to it is an average reading, an average for that particular journey. As soon as you stop the engine this figure is reset. The reading with the '2' next to it is the average that is taken from each journey average. i.e. the figures that are recorded in the '1' section for each journey are averaged out into he '2' section.

o right ok thaks for that, makes sense now lol! i have tried so hard get into the 50 mpg range but havnt managed that yet, going wales tommorow so will see what happens on the motor way m6 then m56 not that far but lets hope it does!!

As soon as you stop the engine this figure is reset.

Not correct I'm afraid - though I can't find it in the manual, the reset doesn't occur until after approx 2 hours has elapsed. Hence if you call at a service station the readings aren't reset...

I stand corrected - you are right David. It does take a length of time after a switch off before it resets itself.

2 hours sounds about right.

Sorry - I've found it in the manual now:

Single-trip memory (memory 1)

The single-trip memory collates the driving information from the moment the ignition

is switched on until it is switched off. New data will also flow into the calculation

of the current driving information if the trip is continued within 2 hours after

switching off the ignition. The memory will be is automatically erased, on the other

hand, if the trip is interrupted for more than 2 hours.

Total-trip memory (memory 2)

The total distance driven memory gathers data from any number of indvidual journeys

up to a total of 100 hours driving or 10 000 kilometres driven. The memory is

deleted when either of these limits is reached and the calculation starts from anew.

The total-trip memory will not, contrary to the single-trip memory, be deleted after

a period of interruption of driving of 2 hours.

Good things, manuals!

I get anywhere from 50 to 60 MPG depending on how much motor way driving I do. The computer is currently reading well over 70MPG but that has proven to show complete bo**ocks

Its a big shame really as I was hoping to be able to rely on the number of miles left in the fuel tank.

The only true was is to brim to brim fill it and work it out from there using an online calculator - like this one http://www.hypermiler.co.uk/mpg-calculator.html

... or write your own spreadsheet

53.35mpg over 480 miles and sticking in just short of 41 litres this morning. The trip read 53.6 so not bad on the reading from the car

My journey is to work and back, 1 week doing 38 mile round trip A and B roads. Another week just 13 mile trip so not bad really
