CAD files for brembo caliper carriers?

Featured Replies

I have already been in contact with DaveB via uk-mkivs.net and he is a top bloke but I think he is getting out of "all things Brakes" soon, I have one caliper from an Alfa 159

which was a luck purchase on ebay and I have a source for another at a reasonable price, the calipers are 130mm hole centres like the Posche ones. ....

Did you buy them a seller called William180 by any chance ?

Think their identical to my old Brembo

Did some weighing:

These are per side figures

EBC 312mm disc: 8Kg

Brembo Caliper: 5Kg

(thats caliper, pads, bolts and carriers)

OE Disc: 6Kg

OE Caliper: 5Kg

(thats caliper, pads, bolts and carriers)

CompBrake caliper: 4Kg

(thats caliper, pads, bolts and carriers)

trying to find weight of rotor - but its lighter than OE disc ....

My advise would - match that Brembo caliper to a rotor/bell to bring weight back to 13Kg "limit"

so the brembo is the same weight as the OE caliper. I am already using the 312 OE vrs discs so my front end is overweight the same as yours was but I haven't had any ESP issues? but I might if I go up to a 330 disc unless I go two piece which gets expensive.

so you were using the DB7 calipers with 312mm discs? as I am already on 312's and those calipers are the same weight as the OE one I should be good if I stay with 312's then. So the question is how much do you want for the carriers :D ? ? ?

Edit: can't spell "the" my fingers get ahead of them selves and it comes out as "teh"

Think you might be in luck

Whilist digging around to find the old bits to weight, I came across my experimental alloy carriers for the Brembos.

The ones I actually used are made from high tensile steel.

The steel ones weigh 785g, whereas the alloy ones weigh 293g - that's a saving of .5Kg per side

Question of weight over strength !

I opted for strength, so they never got finished.

I hind-sight, I'd have opted for weight saving !

Would be willing to sell you alloy ones.

(Want to keep the steel ones so can sell a complete working setup to a mk.4 front-wheeler)

Disc weight wise - I wonder if the vRS disc is a lighter construction than EBC disc I have ?

The number and thickness of the veins between the discs, and the thickness of each disc surface must have a huge impact on the weight of the disc.

The EBC disc did seem very heavily constructed compared to the OE disc construction. Maybe this goes back to the issue with DB7's warping discs, and discs being made stronger to compensate ...

what grade are the alloy ones? PM me price etc.

Also any chance you can give me the visible piston dimensions on the DB7 calipers. are they both the same? what are the mounting centres 130mm? what is the width of the area where the pads and disc goes? I am guessing they are from the rear of the DB7?

13kg limit, i think im over that, just mind you. . .
