Fuel gauge empty

Featured Replies

Had a strange occurence yesterday during a 400 mile round trip to Edinburgh. Had approx. 75% full fuel tank. We stopped for a comfort break. Back in the car, started it. Once back on the road, noticed that the fuel gauge said empty, and range on the multidot said "---". So stopped, turned off, and when I started again, fuel gauge was back at 75% again, and range said 360miles. Can only assume that some combination of events may have caused this bug.

Maybe an issue with the fuel level sensor?! Do you have VAG COM to give it a quick check?!

Remember it is a computer collecting all the data. It's not too unusual to miss a "bit" in a start sequence, and next time it wasn't missing. Forget it. If it ever happens again, get Skoda to upgrade the software.

Just be glad the software is not Microsnot.

Don't know if I have it - how would I know?

Yes, that's what I suspect happened. I've noticed that when you turn on the ignition switch, first the fuel gauge jumps up to zero, then within a couple of seconds it jumps up to the actual level. I suspect I caught it out with my quick move.

VAG COM is a software that you can download and a cable from Rosstech, it is a diagnostic software. :)

As mentioned it may of just had a 'moment'
