Cor blimey, I am plucknig up things to sell on eBay 2moro to fund this! Must say that looks spot on

Josh, have you changed the rear number plate bulbs for LED items?

Didn't see this post,am getting mine done on Wednesday i think,Octy for

Damn... This is one of those moments I wish I still lived up in Leics. :D

I like Josh' 50% tint myself - looks dark enough to be "tinted" from the outside, but still light enough that the chances of a copper having a "test" are slight IMO.

Am edging towards having 50% on the front sides then 35% on the rears then 20% on the back at the moment, will spend all day thinking about it i'm sure!!!

Josh just a quick question, the tints seem to have been done on the outside? How long will thy last? Do they damage easy?

Ta

i was under the impression that its fitted on the inside also.

have emailed Liam and asked the question,so will let you know otherwise Josh Gti might be able to answer this query??????

They put the tints on the outside of the (wet) window to cut it and shrink them to the correct shape and size, then they peel back off and stick them to the indside.

Only know this because I tried doing my own tints once (I knew they would turn out nasty and they did - very!!). Just the back windows of a van though - nothing important only

I know they stick to the inside, because I had fun removing my 0.1% dark tints off my front windows, about two weeks into ownership. Was dangerous, but they peeled off OK, and just needed some polish to clean off the residue.

Any chance of a daylight photo of the 2 Furbie's together? Will be able to see the effect of the tints better then.

How do you clean the glass once the tints are on?

Looks good on Silver and my Octy is silver!

JUT: They're standard numberplate lights... The only lights I've changed are the Indicator Bulbs front and rear.

The tints are in the inside and you can clean them with a damp piece of soft kitchen towel. Liam told me I could use Autoglym Fast Glass, but I'll just stick with water.

PLUMSOUL: Sorry, I didn't take one of both cars together, but my mum has a standard vRS, in Silver, so I'll try to take a photo of them both together at the weekend.

very interested in this......BUT fitting to the outside, what about rear wash wipe?auto car wash/hand wash/road grime at speed?

companies i've read up on have charged more because they take out the windows.

legallity is one thing, but lobbing your money thats gonna get washed off next time i get the meguires out is another ,any garantees would be good .sorry if i have missed one

Jason please read the thread, I think you'l find your answers on fitting to the outside.

In a nutshell they dont fit the tints on the outside.

The Tints Are On The Inside Of The Windows

The Tints Are On The Inside Of The Windows

Sorry I didn't get that josh :P

Thanks for this info

hi what percentage do people think on a black octy vrs

I say 50% would be OK

Jon!??? You still up for this maybe, as I've had a PM from someone who could come in for another half done, to make it up to a full 2 cars. :D (well, thats one full maybe, and two front windows)

think they look cool

quality pictures on this thread.fabia and golf under the streetlights superb.looks like brochure material and a great advert for tinting

This thread makes me so sad...

My Furb had Pentagon Smoke all round. Quite a dark tint, but been on all my cars for years. had to remove it last month as elephant would not cover that darkenss of tint anymore, and no one else will insure me so cheaply.

Who you insured with to cover the tint Josh?

I really do want to go back to the tint...

if anyones in the midlands or near Stoke on Trent speak to AutoKraft on... crap, my phones died... Monkey boy has the number...

we both had out octavia's done there and the quality is second to none imo. they use a new type of tint that has some sort of reflective quality to it and looks darker than it really is under heavy sunlight but looks lighter in darker conditions if you get what i mean. its perfect for plod cause it looks like factory security tint.

cost me

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm surprised any insurance company will consider insuring a car with illegally tinted windows - and they could potentially void the insurance if it was suggested any accident was exacerbated by the fact the windows were tinted.

And no one who knows about the law would buy the car off you either...

So the cost is potentially a lot higher than

My insurance company didn't say anything when i told them,no increase in premium at all.

and once you've been in a car with them and realize that "tinting" them dosen't mean like the limo tint that everyone thinks of,so sit in a car with 35% or 50% on the side windows and you'll see that they aren't that dark at all.

I must say I have always liked the tint at the top of the windscreen as you don't tend to look there anyway - low sun blinding the living cr*p out of you is well annoying after all :D

As for the rest of the windows - a little tinting won't hurt. Too much isn't too great but that's up to your preferences, the law and what you think you can get away with :D
