Was wondering,with the introduction of the new VRS and the claimed BHP of 180 from a 1.4 engine.

Do you think the likes of AMD and Jabbasport will introduce a remap for this engine...what sort of figures are realistic from the 1.4 engine,or is it close to its limits already.

would love to see the first new owner take the plunge and squeeze some more power from the engine.

The problem I have read with remapping this engine is the DSG box. I have read that in standard form, it is at the limit of the gearbox's torque limit.

However I have read that some firms are remapping DSG boxes. This not only makes them even faster to change, but removes kickdown in manual modes.

hello there here is a reply i had from a friend who has had his lovley seat re mapped from revo i asked the same question about the dsg box ,because i am hoping to get delivery of a nice new vrs 2 in september .this his the reply -The software is well within the safe limits of the DSG even though its running on the highest setting. Around 225BHP and under 300Nm of torque. I had mine on the rolling road at Awesome Gti before the map and the standard car was running 195BHP and 280Nm which is well over the stock book figures.

Comparing my map to the revo map my standard peak torque is when the supercharger kicks in. All the revo software does is hold this peak torque + a little bit more, right through the rev range rather than tailing off rapidly. I makes a huge difference when the car comes on boost via the turbo rather than the charger and pulls to the red line instead of running out of puff around 5.4k rpm. You can see in the video of the mk3 Cupra v me that he gets a better start but when my boost kicks in I’m away.

so all this talk about the box being on its limit is not true ,if it was his dsg box would be all over the road by now there must be limits but the re-map seams to be safe .
