Hi guys,

I was driving my 56 plate vrs the other day and my car just died on me, I rolled into a lay-by and turned t car off, when I tried t turn t car back on it would try to start bit couldn't, I put it into the nearest Arnold Clark garage, as I have an extended warrenty through autocare, when I tried toturn it on it was smoking and oil sprayed over t engine but I do not no where it came from, I plugged it in to vagcom and the fault code came up saying camshaft position sensor (g40) implausible signal, I am really hoping someone could shed some light on this,

Also back in December my turbo failed and oil ran through my exhaust, my warranty replaced the turbo and intercooler, I do not know if this is linked at all, a quick response would be amazing

Could be a blown turbo again. Mine cut out a while back and wouldn't start again which was diagnosed as a blown turbo.

Did yours spray oil over t engine? The oil seems to have been coming from somewhere at the front as all the oil stains are there? The car hasn't seemed as quick as when I first got it befor the original problem with the turbo!

Sorry, I couldn't tell you if the oil sprayed on mine. I have no technical knowledge so i'm just going on the "cutting out whilst driving and not starting" thing. Hopefully it's something less serious, or that you still have the cover. If the turbo has gone again within a year is it not covered?

I hope it ain't t turbo again it took ages to fix last time, it's in t garage t day so hopefully they will diagnose the issue, knowin Arnold Clark though they will take there time about it!

Bloody typical! They never even bothered there arse to look at it the day! Typical Arnie sharks!!!

If you're cars not booked in it isn't a priority case. I work for Arnold Clark and i'm in no way defending them cos i bloody hate my job and the company in general! But if they are busy then they'll get a chance to look at it when they have a free mechanic to do so

My works chocka block just now so anything brought in un booked can lie for up to a week!

Ano it's a joke but, they told me someone would look at it today, if they where busy and couldn't see it and explained that to me then fair dooze, but they are making promises they cannot keep!

I feel sorry for u mate, working for them! Being a customer is bad enough!! Lol

Any ideas on what t problem could be??

I whole heartedly agree mate, Arnold Clark couldn't keep a promise if it would save the company from bankruptcy! Promises delivered my rear end!

I want out but being there 4 years people r hesitant to touch u!

Dunno mate tbh, touch wood I've never had any turbo problems on mines and I've given it death since I got it! It's had the turbo oil seals done once before I got it. It was an older guy and when I floored it bringing it to my work as I got it through another branch but dealt at my branch. A ploom of soot came out so could tell it needed cleaned out badly!

It's now done 24k since I got it and never really missed a beat :)

Lucky u! Lol

Am really hopin whatever it is is covered by warranty, I am assuming it is as they need to go under the head cylinder apparently!

What Arnold Clark is you're car in?

One in t Glasgow area

Theres alot in the Glasgow area lol, i work in Mount Vernon in the Peugeot and Nissan bit

I bet you didn't know that you don't have to take the car to arnold clark to use the Autocare? You can use Autocare at any garage u want! So personally i woulda had the car taken to Henry's Skoda in Glasgow as i know the Master Tech and one of the Mechanics so i know my cars always in safe hands

U kidden me on? ****!!! If I had knowin that it would be the last place I would of put it!

Ragin, does auto care still cover yr car if yr car is modified, ave gt coilys on it, and it's pretty low,

They don't advertise that fact and don't tell anyone but I phoned and asked.

Most garages don't care, if u have a friendly garage they'll replace it anyways. I know for a fact mines will get done under warranty regardless. I have coilies aswell running as low as they can go without removing adjusters etc

Well that's good to know, I will ask to get it moved if they don't pull there finger out!

Cheers for t info! Am just dyin t get t car back!,

No problem mate :)

Now they have sent the head cylinder away to be checked???

Doesnt sound too good maybe some debris from the blown turbo made its way into the engine internals :o

Sounds quite fatal. U will get a brand new engine if thats the case ;)

The cylinder head is fine! They checked it, now they are checking the piston rings, am sick of this! They also said the turbo had went again, the fan like things inside the turbo had failed! How much would a new engine cost?? The autocare warranty has a maximum claim of 2k?

Amy luck getting the car sorted mate?

well from skoda a turbo is £1300 alone !

Knowing how tight fisted Arnold Clark are the turbo won't be from skoda. It'll either be from the cheapest source or reconditioned as is terms of the warranty. It suitable warranty can be supplied reconditioned parts will be used
