Advice needed - Fabia VRS

Featured Replies

Hey guy's, just joined you wonderful looking forum because I'm a man in need of some help. I'm currently driving a 206 GTi 180 and it's doing my head in. Im fed up with the constant rattling, shaking, spine breaking ride so fancy a change.

I've always fancied a VRS and seeing as they are pretty well priced and quick (with a new map) but I have no idea what they are like to live with so come on, convince me to come to the derv! I'm just wondering generally what they are like to drive day to day and what they're like to live with!

Cheers in advance, Lee.

Economical, quick, reliable if looked after. A few niggles, wet rear carpets indicate door carriers need sealing. Poor handling means consule bushes at rear of wishbone will need replacing. The new bush used is from the Octavia 2 and lasts a lot longer. 50+ MPG even if driven quite hard.

Cheap insurance for such a quick car. Not that fast off the line, but 2nd 3rd gear torque is massive and will leave more powerful cars wondering where you went

Occasional expensive failures can be. Turbo, clutch, dual mass flywheel. Although they usually fail on mapped cars. Plenty of upgrade options for Turbos and clutches as well.

Power comes in one huge lump, and takes a while to get used to. Short shifting keeps you in the torque band. You can also have the car mapped and the torque spread out a fair bit.

I would buy an unmodified car and go from there.

Know anyone who wants to buy a Pug then lol? I drive vans alllll day so am pretty used to the lump of power and it's part of the reason I want to keep the 206 (pulls hard from 2k-8k) but Ive had the pleasure of being driven in a mapped VRS (174bhp) and it felt good!

Are there any for sale on here before I do a search?
