AND ON THE DASH Lights come Control system for exhaust

Control system for exhaust from the manual page 37

The warning light comes on after the ignition has been switched on.If the warning light does not go out after starting the engine or it lights up when driving, a fault exists in an exhaust relevant component. The engine management system selects an emergency programme which enables you to drive to the nearest specialist garage by adopting a gentle style of driving.

Anyone have the same problem ?

Hi,

Superb GreenLine 1.9 TDI PD

Yesterday in the traffic I have this Glow plug system light start blinking for maybe 5-10 times on the dash. And later gone

This morning this light does not come on as problem. All drive to job fine no light come. So maybe it is fine or just contacts problems or computer resetting something or correct the problem?

From the manual copy:

Glow plug system (diesel engine) page37

The warning light lights up for a cold engine when switching on the ignition (pre-heat position) 2 page118. Start the engine after the indicator light goes out. The glow plug indicator light will come on for about 1 second if the engine is at a normal operating temperature or if the outside temperature is above +5°C. This means that you can start the engine right away.

Adding:

1) Before the light come on - The engine start lowering revs from 900-850 rpm to 800 rpm on neutral gear position (I have manual 5 gears).

So I start feel more vibration inside from the engine it is become more like tractor as maybe it is normal but I feel that the engine starts working more vibrating.

Maybe just illusion but ….?

2) The MDF display same time start showing from 5 Gear change to 4 th gear BUT IM ON 1 GEAR JUST STRAT DRIVING FROM THE TRAFIC LATER EVERYTHING BECOME ALLRIGHT BUT AFTER LET SAY 0.5 Half mile drive MDF Start showing right gear number.

Does it is a problem in my engine ? or just ignore that and wait for constant light on dash or drive to dealer?

Thank you

1) The roughness is actually a result of the drop in engine revs, and not a problem in itself, but a symptom of the drop in engine revs. If the car was fully warmed up, I'd say that the problem has to be with the idle stabilisation control.

If it wasn't fully warmed up (any time in the first 10 minutes after starting from standing over-night) it could still be the idle stabilisation, but is more likely to be a fault with the cold start control or the engine temperature sensor.

2) No idea, but something doesn't sound right. Finding out exactly what is the sort of thing that VCDS was invented for.

Go to the dealers and ask them to diagnose. Probably something to do with the particle filter, or emissions in general.
