Washer fluid reservoir leak

Featured Replies

Yesterday I found my washer reservoir leaking.

Is it possible to remove it without removing the front bumper?

I have '01 Fabia PD100 Elegance and I'm afraid that bumper removing might be difficult due to headlight washers. Is reservoir the same size as in every other Fabia?

I've also got a small leak on my Fabia...

Two different reservoirs are used small one 2Lish for non headlight washer equipped cars and 4.5Lish for head light washer equipped cars.

I want to replace mine with the larger size but I think you are right in saying that the bumper has to come off :(

Thanks. I'll try to take this bumper off. Maybe there is a way to seal up the reservoir.

My first Fabia was a 2001 model. During the first cold spell one of the unions between the bottle and the rear wash wipe broke - I'm told a lot of them went that winter.

It took the dealer 15 minutes to replace.

I let mine dry out before applying a bit of silicon bathroom sealant. Seems to have stopped my leak until the reservoir gets replaced :D

Neil makes a good point, are you sure the reservoir is leaking?

Maybe some kind of water hose might be broken. I've just noticed when I fill a bottle it's ok-no leaking, but after using front washers it starts to leak directly under the bottle (water flows through bumper and drips near the left front wheel). Yesterday I removed the wheel arch and reach the pump. I thought it was a valve which prevents water from going back to bottle so I sealed it carefully. Unfortunately it didn't help.

One of our resident Skoda professionals will hopefully see this thread and give you some pointers.

Incidentally my reservoir is cracked on the filler neck just above the reservoir :(

If its only leaking when you operate the washers it wont be the reservior it will be a pipe off somewhere. Usual places are where the pipe pushes onto the motor and at the bulkhead behind the airbox.

Hi, I have a similar problem on a 2005 Fabia, where it leaks out as soon as it is filled.  There is a puddle at the front wheel arch.  Is it the bottle that is likely to need replacing?  Is a relatively easy job?

Thanks.

One of the pipes might have popped off or the bottle could be cracked if it hasn't had adequate strength screewash in it. Here's a video of how to do the job....

This must be the best thread revival yet. In seriousness, you may find that if you pull the passenger arch liner off, you'll see a pipe has disconnected at the bottom of the pump/bottle. Mine had deteriorated and kept popping off so it is epoxied (I think) on.

Hope this helps. :)

Great minds got covered in washer fluid in September when my Grampa pulled the washer and I was poking about with it. :D

Laurel & Hardy :D

The pipe which connects the rear washer is a good first call to check these are well known for popping off.

@TMBI think it's just a posting/quoting mistake by BlueTigger - you and others are being thanked.

Oh yeah, could well be.

Mine was seal from pump to bottle, replaced both, fiddly but easy enough with bumper off….. reckon you could check by peeling arch liner back

Yes, you are all being thanked.

Thanks again to everyone, especially the links to YouTube.  It turned out to be the pump distribution valve attached to the pump.  I replaced the pump assembly with one from gsf, accessing it from the wheel arch after removing the wheel and liner.  Not too difficult a job.
