This will be controversial I know!

Well just completed a decent length drive (60 odd miles) and one that i do on the odd occasion normally on morrisons fuel at about 35 mpg, round about 42 on total 97. Although its only the first tank full i drove as close as i could to normal conditions and as the tank was almost bone dry when i filled up i could be sold on branded fuel now.

Missed my usual fill up at ESSO. Just made it home with 20 miles remaining on the trip fuel range and 1 bar on the digi fuel gauge (give me an analogue needle, I can relate to that....grumble grumble)

I also needed some supplies for the house so tootled off to Sainsburys. Despite portents of doom about supermarkets I filled up with their so called 'city diesel'. This I think is just their regular diesel, well that was the only diesel available at the pump.

As previously mentioned my Greenline has only ever been fed on Esso's finest since it was new. I know the way my car runs inside out driving it 110 miles every day. I also know exactly what mpg I will get depending how I drive it. Should be an interesting experiment for this tankful.

Incidentally. Anyone know just how far you can go with these new tank readouts ? I have only ever gone down to 1 bar remaining....anyone ever really pushed their luck and if so how far ? When my fuel light came on it said 95 miles remaining.

Nah!...chickened out at one bar!emoticon-0104-surprised.gif

Had my old vRS down to 5 miles indicated before I chickened out. At that point the fuel gauge needle is indicating nothing.

Some on here have gone beyond 0 miles :o

i did 36.8mpg last week on total unleaded and driving normally. This car seems less economical than my old 1.2 64bhp fabia estate (55reg) which got up to 42mpg, exactly the same driving style and i drive exactly on the same roads. about a 1/4 in urban, 1/4 in 40-50mph roads and half in 60mph or motorways. Also disappointed with 39mpg cruising at 70mph.

i always use shell v power diesel, the other day i saw asda diesel at 1.12, and couldnt resist the price, wish i hadnt, felt like i was driving a tractor

So whats... the best unleaded to put in my new Fabia vRS.., when it turns up....?

If I were you Monkey I`d use 99 octane only in it. I use Shell V Power and mine does its wooshing much better...

Enjoy your new VRS

this week i averaged 41.5mph which confirms to me that the 1.2 3 cylinder engine when reved the fuel consumpton goes down quite a lot. i might as well get a warm or hot hatch.
