Superb Estate 2010 Elegance model Columbus Sat Nav Iphone Solutions

Featured Replies

Hi, I've just bought a Superb Estate Elegance on 4.9.2010 and the iphone 3G clearly DOESN'T work with the Columbus system. My dealer gave me a list of UHV Premium / GSM III compatible phones published by SKODA: essentially Nokia, Blackberry 9000 (but with some problems reported ...), HTC, one Sumsung, a few Siemens and Vertu. My dealer tells me NONE of the Apple phones work in the Superb, but some do in the Yeti. The supplied ipod cable doesn't connect the ipod-part of my iphone to the Columbus either ...

My question: Has anybody found a way around these problems? Any reliable info / experiences with the 3GS or 4G models (though my dealer told me they wouldn't work either ...). I am wondering about purchasing an extra bluetooth handsfree kit like SuperTooth Visor Blade but would naturally prefer a seamless integration with the Columbus. Any thoughts / experiences? Many thanks for your replies.

This is my experience with a Superb bought delivered on 26th August.

I paired it without issue. i know its not actually helpful info for you.. but it seems strange that some do, some don't

I am amazed - and just wondered: what did you do differently? What model of Columbus do you have? Did you use another bluetooth intermediary device to connect them? I have in the meantime tried an iphone 4G - it doesn't work with my Columbus either. Many thanks for your advice.

Daformah has a MY11 Superb (production commencing 22 June 2010) which has a new hybrid bluetooth module. This module supports both rSAP and handsfree profiles, so works with the usual Nokia suspects (that do rSAP) and also with other phones (iPhone, Android etc.) that normally only do handsfree profile.

Sadly, Skoda have no intentions of fixing this issue for earlier builds of the car. I'm told that the new bluetooth module should work as a drop-in replacement, but I'm not aware of anyone actually trying this yet.

Hope this helps,

Bagpuss.

Hi Bagpuss,

Thank you so much for your clarification - that makes a lot more sense now! Do you have more details regarding this new hybrid bluetooth module? I have written to Skoda Customer Services in the UK - but sadly, no reply at all. I would be most interested in getting the drop-in replacement - please tell me more details like Parts name and number? I would much prefer this than either buying a new phone which doesn't have all my iPhone applications or an extra cable / separate bluetooth interface just for the phone. How did YOU solve your own phone integration problem? Many thanks for your help!

Best regards

Dr W Walter

These guys do a unit called "VW/Skoda Basic+" which plugs into the back of the Columbus, and enables iphones to link - maintaining all the Superbs phone buttons, displays on the main screen and small screen between dials, plus address book etc.

It's £350.

I phoned them to check (given all the differeing views on this subject) and they assured me this was indeed a fully integrated solution.

Hope this helps...!

I took delivery of my new Superb earlier than you, on 17th August, but my iPhone 3GS works fine with the bluetooth system. I can only assume that mine uses the new hybrid bluetooth system. Sorry to hear of the problems that you are experiencing with your's and the extra likely outlay needed to get it working, very frustrating for you.

Hi,

Thanks for the info so far...i am also very frustrated that my iPhone 4S does not work in my Superb elegance 2010. It was first registered on 5th May 2010 (CV10 XHU). Am I to assume that there really is no way around this other than to put in a new unit?! Seems like the VW/Skoda fix at £350 might be better swerving, and just getting a newer one fom a newly scrapped vehicle...thanks in advance for any replies...

My mid 2010 Columbus connects to wife's  4S without problems, One of the few problems the 4s doesn't have :giggle:

See the HUGE thread, at the top of the page, pinned, started by me, and you'll find all the answers!

Superb With Columbus 2014, IPhone 4S works for making and receiving calls. I understand the other features are not compatible. Perhaps it is down to the Columbus software version that you cannot connect.

Connecting a phone to the Columbus to make calls is down to the Bluetooth module under the driver's seat not the Columbus.

Physically connecting the phone to the Columbus to play music is down to having an MDI module and appropriate cables.

The two are separate and should not be confused.

Do you have either both fitted?

Although with the right BT module you can stream music from the phone to the Columbus...

My 4s connects to a 2010 Columbus via BT module (see my signature for part number) and streams music and makes calls.

PS: The dealer is talking bo****ks. If BT is already fitted then it's about £60-80 to get a different module off eBay (cheaper if there are any for sale on here) that will allow aniPhone to connect via BT, makes calls & stream music to a 2010 Columbus in a Superb.

PPS: do you pass Worcester / Hereford at all? I'll take a look and sort you out if you are.

I fitted a Bluetooth module from a Touraeg to my 2010 Superb. It allows me to stram audio from my iPhone AND change tracks via the steering wheel buttons.

the downside is the module doesn't have the ability to connect to the roof atenna which isn't an issue when using an iPhone as it doesn't support rSAP. I am thinking of adding a GSM booster by using the now spare GSM lead under the seat.

Proper plug n play as well. And it gets rid of that crap plastic cover in favour of a polystyrene cover that velcros to the floor (it's much better than it sounds!).

I didn't use the cable in the kit but I did replace the microphone. All in all, a 15 minute job, the BT unit fixings are the same but I did mod the poly cover to fit the 3T footwell a bit better.

You can get the module on its own but it is sans polystyrene case.

Thanks for your answers. All I need to do,then is swap the Bluetooth module under the seat for 2010 Columbus, and all will be well for iphone 4s? Which BT module would be best?

Thanks,

Tim

2010 Superb diesel estate elegance

I have a 4s and the part number for my BT mode is in my signature link although there are other 'premium' modules that will also show text messages on the Columbus / Maxidot or even create a Wi-fi hotspot.

HimTim I have 3C8035730D in my 2014 car. My iPone 4s works very well but will only connect in hands free mode as iPone does not support rSAP.

You will find the BT unit under your seat, simply remove the cover by pushing it toward the windscreen and you will be able to read the model number.

Are you sure you are trying to connect using hands free?

Thanks to  Uber and Freedom replies,

I am away from home, but will check on my return.

Uber..excuse my ignorance, but when you say 'see my thread at the top of the page' , couldn't see where to do this..will look at replacing th BT module..

Tim
