Fabia or Octy Vrs ?

Featured Replies

Ive posted this on the octy thread as well, just want to get as many opinions as possible.

Thought I'd get some opinions here,,,,

Traded my fabia vrs in for the octy pd vrs (56) a year ago now believing it was a much better car A recent change in my job means I now travel a good 500 miles every week, and the crappy fuel consumption has made me think that I wouldve been better off keeping the Fabia, even started looking around for another Fab.

Anyone else in the same situation ? Fab better on fuel, cheaper to tax and insure. And in my opinion , a faster car as well.

What would you do ? Keep the octy, which is a cracking car, just costs that much more to run than a fabia I cant really justify the difference

Thoughts ???

Personally..The Octavia is much more solid car

But we have both (Soon)

So ..... ;)

haha,,,wish i could get both,,, would solve my predicament immediately !!

I love Hot Hatches and the Furby would be my choice and it would me the new one.

Wish I'd have bought a fabia vrs first, I would have saved a lot of money. :'(

Amongst the cars I've owned (2 vauxhall zafira vxrs,an x3,a 320d sport estate- should never have sold this 1,2 freelanders old shape and a freelander 2). On the skoda side i had a mk1 petrol vrs then went for a mk2 diesel vrs which I just didn't get on with for some strange reason as It ticked all the boxes and had every extra when I was looking to buy, and I'm now knocking round in a silver fab 07, no mods yet :-) but I was lucky to get it with cruise and factory leather (interior colour was probably the only thing that put me off a fabia in the first place)

I've got to say im extremely impressed with performance(seems much quicker than my old pd octy) and economy, and the cheaper road tax and insurance

It's bit of a no brainer when u take a step back and look at it (although I have wasted a fortune on motors to get to the position Im in now)

Just glad I'm now happy now  but should have done it years ago. :D

I've been looking around at new cars recently, really can't make up my mind whether to go back to petrol eg with the new fabia vrs or with the fiat multiair 1.4 as both seem to offer pretty good fuel consumption and are fairly nippy! But i'm thinking of trading my current fab in for an 07 plate vrs as they're such good little cars. I've done 118,000 miles in mine now and it's never missed a beat!!

What??

I did originally write get a TDI VRS but then read his profile properly.

It depends what size of car you want/need. My brother needs the bigger car, especially with the family, so the Octy vRS TDI suits him perfectly. It's a great car, the biggest step over the Fabia is the interior quality and extra refinement.

I don't need a big car anymore, so if (or when) I go for a vRS again, it will be the Fabia :)

I own both and in my opinion, the Fabia feels faster but if you actually look at the speedo the Octavia is quite a bit quicker. Fuel consumption though the Fabias probably 10 MPG better, so much less comfy tho,

At the moment I would be going for the octy vRS for two reasons Manual box and a diesel option.

Hi kerms

i read this to mean a choice between a VRS in both models? Are you considering a new Octavia or keeping your existing one? the mk2 Fabia VRS is petrol only and I'd be surprised if it's as economical as an Octavia PD or CR VRS. Also the Fabia VRS is a bit noisy at speed and will be more wearing if you're doing a lot of mles: it's quite refined for a hot supermini, but not so refined as an Octavia
