My speakers are busted!

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

i'm loving the car and the 175bhp of power...

However on the morning commute i realised that if i put the volume over 18 that there was a lot of reverberation/distortion from the speakers that are placed at the top of the doors. :S

Anyone else had this problem? I assume the speakers will need to be replaced (which i am happy to do when funds allow!)

Are the standard speakers pretty low rent???

Are the standard speakers pretty low rent???

IMO... Yes.

A lot of people disconnect the rear tweeters in the top of the rear doors

as they hiss right in your ear. It smooths out the sound in the car,

The connections are on the rear shelf speakers... Simply unplug.

I did away with the OE rear speakers and put something much meatier

in there, but I listen mostly to Rock or Rap so a decent bass response

is very important to enjoy that kind of music properly IMO

I kept the front setup OE at least for the time being, My rears can handle more so

I fade it toward the rear and get more volume and a fuller sound as a result.

The front speakers should be OK. Relatively, they're better than the rears. Try winding the fader forwards fully, then finding out what volume it will take. BTW, the woofers are rivetted (or screwed) directly to the door carrier and the inner trim can also buzz and rattle around if you're unlucky.

Hi mate, will try that...

The front ones on the upper part of the door sound completely gone though.

I have mine faded to the front, and have uprated front speakers. Do the job for me perfect :)
