New ECU on a 3 year old car

Featured Replies

Not exactly impressed. Probably won't buy another Skoda now.

Anyone else needed a new one?

Steve

Who said you need a new one?

I think you could fine that whoever diagnosed it is well wide of the mark

As mentioned, I'd seek a second opinion. Quite a few people have been told they need a new one only for a decent diagnosis to prove otherwise. ECU failure is VERY rare.

I would doubt the ECU needs replaced too, unless absolutely everything in the car has stopped working?

Normally flood damage kills ECUs. I was told my Mondeo had faulty ECU but it was a relay for the boot release!

yeeha!!!!!! got my vrs back today.......the garage had less than 24hours and got it fixed,,,no:1 injector had gone.....main dealer had it for just over a week and couldnt find the fault, poor show from a main dealer, they aint never gonna see me or my cash again,,,,but they are gonna recieve a stern email from me.........

How about this for a result, similar problem to you I think, might be worth investigating before going down the new ECU route.

Ian

I doubt it to be honest. Very much.

What's the symptoms and diagnosis details?

As others have said, ECU failure is very rare. It's usually what they say when they actually don't have a clue.

As said your other thread, I can run a VCDS scan for you - see what that brings up.

Steve

get a second opinion, main dealer told me wiring loom or ecu.........small garage fixed it.......injector problem,

I've got a spare PD170 ECU sat here if you want it :)

As per my other thread, the ECU has been replaced (co. car) so I will wait with baited breath to see if it packs up again...
