Colour anxiety

Featured Replies

I have also just looked again at the black Yetis on the picture thread and they look great... mind you so do the white, brown, blue, green & red ones!

Exactly. So go with what colour looks best to YOU! Not what the rest of us think!

Here here, well said.

Each to their own I suppose, but consider this. Brigher colours make things look bigger. If you agree that the Yeti is not a massive car, not as long as many estates and not a bulked out as most off roaders, then perhaps brigher options are the way to go? I believe the lighter/brighter colours give the car more presence. Thats my little input for your consideration.

Good luck with your choice, I love my brillant silver Yeti.

I will now come clean and confess that I have had huge colour anxiety as well! My current car is Crystal Blue which is like the Yeti's Aqua blue. I like this colour but love it if is more like the one Peugeot now has on the 207, or BMW has on the M3: a silver with a tiny, tiny hint of blue. So I was very scared that the Aqua was going to be too blue. Especially with the way too blue pics in the brochure. But then seeing real owners' pics on here I knew it was more grey under certain conditions. Took ages to track one down at a dealer which I then went to look at. I was happy. But seeing some steel grey pics on here (I think Terfyn's on top of a mountain somewhere with a roof box on) - and then that one this past weekend parked next to my car - just made me wonder and wonder. So well today when I phoned to ask about the electric seats and add the DSG I also changed my car's colour from Aqua Blue to Steel Grey! I can't have 18 years and two cars (if I keep the Yeti as long as I kept the A2!) with both having been near the same colour! hehehe. Phew. It is done... Steel grey Yeti here I come!

colour prejudice is merely a pigment of the imagination ... ... ... ...

I too have been suffering from the same problems.....Too much time to think about the car before it arrives I guess.

Changed to a brighter (and cheaper, non colour). White

Hope it goes with my Gobi Sand interior.

Nice to have someone else joining the white camp. Must admit not seen many white ones in the flesh.

I've only seen Red in the wild, Aqua blue, Cappuccino Beige Amazonian Green and Black in captivity.

I've not seen any white in flesh, but decided Aerofurb's white looks great and the 2 others I've seen in the photo section.

As mentioned earlier, makes it look biggeremoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Am going with Option C... have settled on black but anxiety now shifted to whether or not to add electric seats to the order... d'oh!

I liked the look of White and also Black, but worried about keeping it clean, so opted for steel grey in the end, with Onyx leather.

Mike I think the Gobi interior should really be set off by the white exterior. I saw a white Tiguan earlier and you're right they do look bigger in that clour ( or shade, lol)

You are not alone matey - I too have ordered a white with Gobi after much similar colour deliberation and in the end I just went for what "I" liked because it will be mainly me in the car so dont care what anyone else thinks !

You will love it.......perhaps ask Aerofurb how he keeps his so clean and shiny lol !!!

I'm going for the autoglym treatment to help keep it clean -James has recommended it.

lolol like that one !!

The Yeti is becoming quite a popular choice as a company car where I work, as it is one of the better value choices on the long list of cars to choose from.

I have seen 2 different white ones, a mettalic blue, a mettalic grey and my red one so far at different offices, and I know others have them at other offices or are still waiting delivery. Quite an influx last couple of weeks with the new reg coming out.

Personally I think the plain colours work better on a car styled like the Yeti, than the mettalics although all look good. The white is perhaps the best looking colour in the flesh, but where I work you can only have white cars unless you are senior management, so I opted for a different colour.

Seems strange to see several parked together at one place, when you still hardly ever see one on the road.

That needs a photo!

Just confirmed with dealer my final (!) choice

Candy White rather than Black Magic

Electric drivers seat + mirrors added

Silver roof rails + decorative boot trim deleted

I end up £101 better off!

From being a black devil to a white angel! hehehe

My dealer said she has been inundated with changes this week on top of all the new 60 reg cars going out! I for one thought you can't change a thing but thanks to this website I read about the 4 week rule and hey presto we are all changing our orders!

....and spending more money.

Andy

This thread is so helpful if only to share the agonies of choosing! I have been putting off calling my dealer all week as I (a) want to add the electric seat/mirrors and variable boot floor to my order and (B) am now convinced - as is SWMBO, despite previous support for my choice - that Cappuccino plus Onyx is wrong for my 4x4 170 Elegance. I have come to love Candy White from studying photos (have only seen silver SMs in the flesh) but it would be an impractical choice for the cow and horse dung covered country lanes down which I live and travel. We both really like the Gobi interior, which seemed to rule out Steel/Platinum Grey (which I rather fancied) and so we THINK it will be Muscavado plus Gobi, which is undoubtedly a gorgeous combination (if the photos are to be believed), although I agree with others that lighter, brighter colours best set off the styling of the Yeti and so have a slight concern that Muscavado is a bit on the dark side.

I know it's all down to personal choice/decisions but is anyone prepared to ressure or challenge me before I make the phone call tomorrow morning? Once made, I'm going to forget all about it and not even contemplate changing my mind again!

Whoever said life was simple?

Good move; stick with Black and you'll be the same colour as just about every small 4x4 in NW London. (no offence meant) I don't know if that is good or bad?

Interestingly, I have not seen Tangerine Metallic mentioned yet in this thread. Makes me wonder if I have made the correct choice. Have I?

PS> Oops; sorry. Load of rubbish above.

Just seen in post #41 you have changed to Candy White. Top Man; well done.

I originally went for Cappuccino, for reasons that it wouldn't show the dirt so much, but changed my mind-too much time to wait for new car.

I went for Candy White in the end. Cheaper, and with the Autoglym treatment should be able to keep it looking fairly clean easily. I have also grown to like the colour. To be honest any colour would look good. I've never had to choose a colour before and to be honest, it's not all that important. I like bright colours. I was tempted by tangerine, but not sure I could live with that one!

And with Gobi interior will look stunning.

The cost saving will partially offset the extra cost of the electric drivers seat as well.

Hmi: muscovado looks fantastic on a Yeti! It is not too dark and the visor window lines still stand out. I saw this one below at the Canary Wharf Motor Expo earlier this year:

Ace colour and trim combination for the Yeti in my book.

... it will make you smile every time you see it... how can that be anything other than the correct choice!

Well said - doesnt matter what other folk think, its your car, you drive it, do what your heart tells you then its got to be the right colour !

After all, I think I am one of the few people going for the white with gobi interior, so there ya go !.....be brave.

Having placed my order last month, I am now in something of a quandry over my colour choice - Black Magic.. There was a pretty good thread about colours a while back...

http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/140459-snow-monster-colours/

Trouble is, everytime I see a pic of a SM in a different colour I get more and more uncertain that I have picked the right one. By turns I decide that Candy White, Aqua Blue, Muscovado or Cappuccino look better but I can't decide!

I should add that my wife is rather more decisive than me and is convinced Black is the right colour.

Should I:

A. Stick with Black, it gives the SM a classy look (esp with those silver roof rails)

B. Change to <insert colour here> because Black is a colour only for hearses / taxis / drug dealers

C. Get a life... and start worrying about something more important (e.g. whether to upgrade the sound system)

A!

Mine is Black Magic and it looks really classy!

With the DRL on in all weathers it looks elegant and eye-catching in a way softer colours do not quite seem to manage (imh0>
