That is a very good tip. Cheers.

Just have a read through the posts. A lot of tips here to help. Any specifics just ask.

I've had my Elegance for over a year and am still picking up tips even unto yesterday. Like the lock/unlock rocker on the centre console can open/close all the windows by keeping it depressed.

I had my 2008 vRS over a year before learning on here that the centre armrest slides forward and moves upwards on a rachet system. Very handy!

Although I came across as flippant

What I meant was - there isn't a massive amount that goes wrong, but have a browse through this forum and see what you find.

My personal experience

I've owned a 2003 Mk1, 2006 Mk2 DSG elegance, 2010 Mk2 FL vRS and my dad has a 06 DSG Elegance, and between 4 Octavias, and nearly 100,000 miles covered between them all, I've only had two faults: -

Inlet manifold went on my Mk1 (~£600 to fix)

Parking sensors went faulty on my 06 DSG Elegance (free under extended warranty)

Hope that helps :)

My #2 top tip.

Get out there and enjoy it!

Have a look through the tips thread, has some good quirky things to know

Oh and welcome to vRS ownership, i have had mine 6 months now and lovin it

Top Tip is to get a full laser alignment check and keep on top of your maintenance

Great cars

most noticable is the fact that when standard they are gutless, so my tip is to get it mapped :giggle:

That button turns off the internal movement sensors for the alarm so you can lock the car and leave a window slightly open and a dog or something inside the car without the movement setting the alarm off.

Hardly gutless. Depends what you're comparing to though. Remember itsa bit heavier than other hatches

Agree a stage one makes it feel a heap more sprightly

In my experience my Scout certainly isn't "gutless", but I am curious to see how more exciting it would be with a stage 1 :wonder:

I find my standard PD140 very zippy and overtaking is extremely easy. The most performing car I've owned since my Corrado G60 in 1991.

great news - had to leave the dog on guard a couple of times aready with motor unlocked. admittedly youd need to be a commited car thief to rob it with him inside he'd have your arm off.

I second that and add "try to avoid other people crashing into you" :'(
