vrs brake upgrades

Featured Replies

hi guys

my discs and pads on my vrs are pretty much dead

want somthing better than uprated discs and pad

seen alot of porsche second hand kits or even seat brembo do the seat fit staight on ??

or any other ideas ive got 18inch wheels so loads of space

thanks dan

Seat Cupra R 4-pots fit but they are like rocking horse poo.

Most people seem to either get Brembos or the Compbrake kits. Or you can fit lambo brakes as well (carrier kit is cheap and the calipers are fitted to all sorts of cars not just lambos).

what the priceing of a kit like that im weighing up is it worth the extra over grooved and driled

They must be at least 4 times the price of a set of grooved and drilled discs?

Unless you're eventually going to be going big turbo I can't see the point of anything bigger than the standard calipers.

yea big turbo will come one day that why im going for over rated parts so im ready for big turbo

Did someone mention Lambo brakes.

Always worth upgrading brakes me thinks.

i posted a set of secondhand brembos recently in the octy forum (not mine) on either edition38 or seatcupra.net, they were 500 ish and official an brembo gt kit like mine, with pistons matched to the size of the master cylinder to retain stock pedal feel which are great. The problem with 'lambo' or other performance brake kits that the pistons are sometimes too big so you get lots of pedal travel or that the calipers are too heavy and efect front end weight (i do not mean kits like compbrake or brembo which are designed for the car).

Either way dont get mugged off, lambo brakes sound great, in truth i bet my left ball they are not off a lambo but off soemthing like a merc or a bmw (who use the same calipers without flashy colours or decals) people then buy these paint them red stick brembo on the side and mate them with a disc like the lcr 323mm discs and a suitable adaptor and sell them as a lambo kit.

Why not save the money, find a decent (not too big caliper....some of the porsche rears 996iirc), then buy an mbt (from mbt germany) caliper bracket and suitable discs for half the price one of these kits go for on the bay or other forums.

For comp brake stuff go to vagperformance.co.uk, they will give a 10% discount to briskoda members (thats what he said in a email anyways). Think they are part of compbrake,

I'm putting R32 fronts on mine. Should get them back from being powder coated kawasaki green to match rocker cover today. Got drilled and groved discs and yellow stuff pads. Rear is standard but with fresh discs and pads. Spent a small fortune as had problems with calipers i bought off ebay and had to get them replaced. Oh and buy 18's but i wanted those anyhow. Girlfriend is going made bit she just needs to understand the car comes first.

problem with the r32 is they are only 2 pot iirc, weigh a lot, cause you to have fitment issues with alloys and discs are expensive to replace.

I would recommend the Mk4 R32 334mm front brake kit. It's a bolt on replacement. I will make this upgrade when I have the money for it. You need to know that the rear brakes are the same as the ones on the Octavia RS: same caliper and the same 256mm rotors.

There is more info here: http://www.tt-forum....ilit=how+to+r32.

They look great! But, they need some adaptors for the calipers.

Think they come with them as it's a full kit ready to fit.

for the money the porsche kit is much better value than the r32 setup, its a better caliper with 4 pots, its lighter so wont effect front end handling and the discs are not as expensive to buy as you can buy stock lcr discs (323mm).

The r32 doesnt fit under loads of wheels either iirc.
