Second gear max speed..

Featured Replies

Hi, just wanted to know the max speed everyone could reach in second.

If I boot it from first, I get upto 40 and in second ill get between 75-80.

Shell V-power and standard 180 BHP VRS.

40mph in first? :wonder:

I wont dare go above 25mph...

I can't boot it in first... it either kills the power or the wheels spin (if ASR is off).

No idea what 2nd is I know 3rd tops out at 100mph and 4th tops out at 120mph, I guess 2nd is probably about 80mph.

Rev limiter will kick in at 7k on OEM cars. Official Skoda figures were:

  1. 43mph
  2. 72mph
  3. 109mph
  4. 139mph
  5. 146mph

Mine, give or take 1 or 2 mph:

  1. 55mph
  2. 90mph
  3. 130mph
  4. 155mph
  5. 175mph
  6. 180mph+

Steve ;)

  4. 155mph

Are you sure you can get those figures?

Surely your car only revs to 5k due to you having a Diesel gearbox.:giggle:

Madness, well at least I know mine's upto standard speed now. Had a leak on a pipe and a stuck caliper holding the speed back but glad to know its upto scratch.

How much power are you putting down?

I am the same, cant boot it in 1st, 1st is just a get moving gear then 2nd is bit better but 3rd is a nice one to use lol, never gone that high up the revs in 1 or 2 tho, only done the 3rd thing a few times with VAG Com.

I didn't think a remap made so much diference, I can dial in 4Krpm, nail it, sliding the clutch a smidge so she doesn't bog down and away I go! Assuming a dry straight road of course. I'm really suprised some you struggle so much with grip!?

prob the fact Ive always had naf budget tyres on.

but besides that the car doesnt feel right in first when trying to boot it plus you run out of revs fast. quick first then 2nd and it pulls really nice.

That does make a huge difference in my experience lol.

Not that I would know about high revs of course .....:D

of course lol

I reckon I could squeeze 20 mph with full revs in first. All 4,500 of them emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Remap makes a huge difference mate  its like night and day difference B) can get the traction control kicking in in 3rd in the dry :p

How much power are you putting down?

It's totally standard (somewhere between 175 and 190bhp depending on which RR graph you look at :D )

Like Billy I have to just get it out of 1st within a couple of seconds then 2nd and 3rd are great for accelerating. I'm not running particularly crap tyres - half worn Hankook EVOs up front.

isnt the car limited in first? so as to not kill the diff?

Ive had it a few times where rhe ASR has kicked in just in normal driving, and its true what they say ASR kills you ESP saves you.

I can't max it in second because the national speed limit is 100kph :)
