Just been to the dealers to sign off the order.... anticipated delivery was week 5 so I guess that's 1st week in February :S

Hmmmm, maybe I need to find a briskbanger forum in order to get some ideas for temporary transport.

Oh, by the way, I saw an Fabia Estate on the move in the forecourt, I think it was SE spec, but I have to say that I'm glad that I've gone for lowered suspension because it did look like it was on stilts. I think the longer body must emphasise the ride height or maybe it was the 15 inch alloys.

Gotta tell you Matt, that the slightly higher ride height is brilliant. Although, they do look a bit higher when brand new than when they have covered a few miles. The suspension takes a little while to settle and loosen. Being a near live rear axle the car can look high on one side but low on the other depending on the level of the ground it is on. But, you can stack these things out with huge loads. My 1.4TDI Estate has comfortably carried a third of a ton of bathroom tiles, the wife and me and half a tank of diesel without any difficulty (I mean all at the same time of course!). I can tell you that lowered suspension would definitely rule that sort of load out. Not enough clearance between tyres and body. And I didn't exceed rear axle weight either, but boy was she low!

are lowered springs just shorter or harder and shorter as well.

does anyone know if the dampers are different if lowered springs are specified.

They are harder and shorter. Very similar to the vRS suspension setup, damping rates will be changed to match.

Good point Estate Man but I doubt I'll ever carry a load over 100kg which even with lowered suspension should be fine. When I had the Ibiza which sat very low, I had to to move my gym set-up temporarily to my parents house. In one trip it carried around 140kg of discs in the boot and it was fine, so I'm sure the Fab will be OK.

I am slightly concerned about ride quality. The standard Fab which I test drove I found to be cosseting but firm... I hope that lowered it doesn't become too much of a bone shaker.

Have no concerns about ride quality. The ride quality is really very good with the lowered suspension. The only time you can really feel any harshness is on cobbles/really knackered roads.

Hi Grahame,

Lucky you. Please post some reports after you get behind the wheel.

All the best
