Bolero and the 'TP' function

Has the 'TP' function replaced the 'RDS' system on older CD radio units???

My Honda CD radio had 'RDS' printed on the front but not the Yeti. :dull:

isnt TP where the radio interrupts with traffic news from local stations if you're listening to a national? eg so you get hereford and worcester (say) when listening to radio1

That's what it does on my Octavia mk1

From memory, RDS is the data transmission bit of the signal that displays the station name instead of frequency, and also helps the radio tuner jump between frequencies to find the stronger signal as you move around.

TP is the traffic program function. Press it, and the Bolero will interrupt your music with traffic information when it is broadcast.

You can (apparently) do some clever stuff with pre-recording traffic programs so you can get the latest traffic report when you set off on your journey, but I've not tried that....

On my old MFD2 it was in the setup, you can get it to start at a pre-arranged time morning and afternoon.

Can't remember whether the Columbus had it or not, but the columbus shows all the major roads with traffic problems on. TomTom traffic is even better, but not infallible. Pretty impressed with the iPhone TomTom application now. As I don't have Bolero, can't comment.

I can't comment on the fitting of cables as my yeti has yet to be built. But I will probably want to fix the iPhone on the drivers side using a Brodit A pillar mount, so would also be interested.
