Octavia TDi engine code ASV - what else fits!?

Featured Replies

Hi

My 2001 Octavia 1.9 TDi engine died (dropped a valve, would post pics if I could!)

Bearing in mind I'm retaining all the engine management, turbo, pump etc do I really need the same engine code (ASV)?

I note the 90 bhp (and many others) are the same dimensions...

These are quite hard to find and surely a similar VAG lump would do?

I apologize if this has come up before, this is frantically written - if anyone can point me at the right thread I'd be very grateful

the 90bhp engines have different injectors for starters so if you were to keep the same ecu I would expect it would get very confused. Likewise any PD lump wouldn't be a staight swap.

the AHF engine was also 110bhp and I think was the prefacelift engine which may be a straight swap.

I'm not sure what the codes are for the equivalent audi and vw engines.

AFN on the earlier Audis, probably ok to use the block and head etc.

Could use a 90bhp and swap injectors and pump over.

Great, thanks guys. Injectors, turbo and pump are all fine so might try the 90 route.

I may also try and find out what the equivalent VW/Audi codes are. I bet those guys rob Skodas for parts after all.

I think that the MkIV Golf and Bora also used the ASV engine too.

Yep plenty of them used the ASV and that would be least effort, although as Ross said, the TDI 90, swap the pump and injectors and turbo and you have a 110

While the turbo is off, I'd suggest checking it and cleaning it up so you don't suffer from sticky vanes any time in the near future.
