fitting lowering springs and rarb

Featured Replies

i thought i'd ask here since a number of you have had it fitted to your vrs's

so how much could i expect to be charged for fitting these?

It can be a bit better value getting them done together, as you're working in that area for the ARB fitting anyway. I'd say 30 mins a corner was reasonable, so 2hrs labour? General rate of perhaps £50/hr (depends on your location of course) so £100 should cover it.

Best to ring round for some local quotes first though - if there's a good local independant mechanic/garage you know of perhaps? The use of ramps does speed things up nicely.

also filling your location in your profile will help with sugestions.

thanks for the qucik reply.

i've been asking around but i've been quoted quite a big difference in prices so i though i'd ask on here to see what people have been charged, about 2 hours, yeah that's what i was told by one garage

i've never bother filling in all the details in my profile when i registered. i'm in south staffordshire/ west midlands (burntwood/cheslyn hay)

I'd fit the ARB yourself, its very simple and comes with step by step instructions!

So free ;) As for the springs...2 hours labour MAX (1 hour if your mechanic is a speed machine)

even for someone who's never worked on a car before? i only have the little jack that came with the car to jack the car up so i'll probably have to go to a garage anyway to get the car on ramps

edit: white rarb are you talking about, the whiteline?

Quick question on the subject of fitting the RARB. Do you use the existing shock absorber mounting bolts to connect each end? Or do you need longer bolts?

Cheers

Still haven't done it eh Gareth....

Door sealing detail for me this weekend.

It's time for a curtain call....

Pink clothes pegs and plastic sheeting do not suit my car

Saw the pics of your curtains in another thread - very nice

Good luck with the sealing.

My RARB has been stripped back to the metal is now wearing several coats of hammerite - will defo be fitted next week, and strut brace should be finished and fitted this weekend.

what's the reason for stripping, can't you paint over it

Only reason for stripping was that it was purchased second hand, and it had several coats of hammerite on it in a past life that were flaking off in a few places.

It really wasn't necessary, but gave me piece of mind that it would be fully protected when it goes on the car.
