Auxiliary driving light - long beam

Featured Replies

Now that winter is approaching and we soon will have long and dark nights, ome of our Northern Scandinavian Yeti owners must have found an elegant and none too forward projecting driving lights.

I am particularly interested in some smallish xenon driving lights for the 250 meer distance. We do not need to look for Moose at 500 meter distances here, but an extra 100 meter visibility would be very helpful in winter time.

When I was in the far North a few years ago I saw lots of cars with extra lamps on the front to help lighten the path and also to prevent too much freezing air into the engine bay.

I'd just like to find a way to fit a set of Hella Driving lights I've got stuck in the shed. Can't work out any mounting for them!

doesn't anybody do a bull bar or similar for the Yeti yet?

How about fitting to a roof bar?

How about fitting to a roof bar?

Because they are cr@p for general road use, and very probably illegal, sinvce C & U Regs state that auxillary lights other than fog lights have a max height of 1500mm if mounted behind the front axle.

Not what I'm looking for, and they would still be illegal in UK, I think.

Think I will start another thread instead of hijacking this one.

You wont get one, since fitting them to cars is now illegal accross the EU because they are not pedestrian accident friendly. If you have an older car with one fitted already then no problem, the law relates to newer cars only at the moment.

Those Rayzer lights are an interesting idea. What about the lorry cabs with a set of 5 or 6 spots on the roof. If they are legal would not the Rayzer be also?

The main problem with the Rayzer, as I see it, would be that they would hit oncoming drivers straight in the eyes. (just like the xenon headlights do!?!?!)

lorry lights fitted up there are IN FRONT of the front axle therefore legal. C & U Regs state 1500mm max height BEHIND front axle. See yesterdays post from me at 1826
