Scout Capability......

Quite impressive for an Estate Car.

That is quite impressive, and I have to be honest, didnt really know much about the scout when I ordered my vRS, but in saying that, I'm not a farmer, we dont get much snow in newport, and I just love the vRS........

in all honesty though, it handled all of that quite well, and if I do ever get stuck in the snow, will look for the nearest one to come and pull me out, provided they havent wrapped it around a tree seeing "what it can do" first.......

Very impressed with the off road capabilites. Don't need one myself, except the odd chance when in a water-logged camping field.

However, the cheating French were at it again! Tilting the camera to make the gradients look more inpressive! Just look at the trees in the background - quite a list to one side or the other :wonder:

Mmm

I think I need to find some fields

As for the French cheating, normal sort of thing !

I posted this one on another thread a few days ago which some may have missed

A 4x4 would have got away :giggle:

I've driven Subaru Outbacks for the past 10 years and finally saw the light in June, placing an order for a Scout, due for delivery in the next couple of weeks. I've always thought the Outback's 4WD capabilities were second to none in an estate-style car, but this video gives me hope that the 4th-gen Haldex system fitted to the Scout might be on a par with the Subaru.

Simon - hope the earthquake hasn't affected you too badly! I to switched to a Scout from an Outback - mind you, I only ever used low range on the Outback 4 or 5 times in 6 years, and only did beach driving a couple of times. The Scout has been perfectly OK on roads as rough as I've done in the Subaru, but I haven't had any real opportunities for limited traction excursions....

Thanks for asking. We personally got away very lightly, thank goodness. That's more than can be said for some of the roads round here at the moment. Just about need the Scout to get around some of them:

I assume the scout was running on normal standard tyres, otherwise it really isn't fair.

I've also changed from a subaru legacy to a scout, but mainly because the suspension on the subaru is a challenge when hitching up a caravan. My wife still has a forester, but I prefer the Scout to the Forester. The Legacy is in a different class, or was it because it was top of the range with hydraulic self levelling suspension. So comfy!!

Pretty good for a softroader on road tyres - enough for what I need anyway.

Where they do tend to lose out on is ground clearance though.

Impressive stuff !

I wonder how many times it got stuck whilst making the film?

None I reckon.

I've seen Scouts tackle and overcome worse conditions than that, mine included
