VRS 2.0TFSI & 2.0TSI

Featured Replies

What is the difference between them if any?

Power outputs are identical , I think the main difference is the tsi has a chain rather than rubber/plastic , timing belt

Is there any difference in emissions? It might make a difference to the road tax band.

After much trawling new 2.0TSI / 175 co air pollution eu5 , had to find my brochure for mine for 2.0TFSI as even dealers cant provide the info -- 190co maximum ved band F . Hope this helps

Yes I think so as TSI is 175 grams/km as a manual, 180 as a DSG and I think the TFSI were a group of 2 higher, might have even been 190 I seem to remember.

Torque plateau starts at 1700 rpm in TSI and I think it was 1800 rpm on the TFSI.

TSI car ie Face lift VRS is also 15 to 20 kgs lighter and the acceleration might be a tenth or so quicker and the top speed has gone from 240 to 242 kph ie 150.5 mph also.

Fuel consumption quoted as the same but over 40 mpg is not too difficult to get on the TSI.

It is the same EA888 engine in the 2 litre VRS as the 1.8TSI, just shorter stroke. ECU is more powerful too and tuners reckon more tune-able not that I am recommending that personally IMHO.

Sothe TSI is in the FL and the TFSI is in the pre FL. Just wanted to know as i'm looking at 2 at the moafter disregarding the tdi vrs. Keep hearing problems poping up with them???? If anyone can shed some light on there realiability would be apreciated :)

Never had a problem with mine. Nearly 2 years and 21k, it;s remapped and I drive it like I stole it.

The main differences that i know of off the top of my head are:

- Different Turbo

- Different Injectors

- Different Fuel Pump

- Different Cam

- Different Cam Belt (Now a Chain)

- TSI only available in the vRS FL

from what i hear, the biggest difference especially when it comes to remapping, is a result of the newer version of the high pressure fuel pump which can flow upto 150bar in comparison to the TFSI struggling to make 130 bar.

It's more the Injectors mate. The standard injectors top out at about 285ish bhp (reliably anyway) due to having a pressure release system in them. The new ones don't. Keith at JKM did explain it to me at the last RR meet but that was a while ago now so can't remember exactly what he said but he explained the differences at the time between the 2 sets of injectors and the rail

The TFSi pump can only flow 115bar unless you mod it. There is no requirement for the pump to flow 150bar (although as you say, it can) as the RS4 only flows 136bar max. Hence why some people add the RS4 Pressure Valve to the rail on high modification K04's

but thats the point, because its no where near its maximum possible flow rate, the tuners do not have to hold back on the map like they do on a tfsi.

The TSI stage 1 pretty much gets the same output as stage 1+ TFSIs with the hpfp

I wasn't disagreeing mate. Was just saying the 150bar isn't necessary :)
