Recommend me a Home Cinema System

Featured Replies

After moving house, I have discovered that my present system does not match SWMBO's taste in decor, or her cable allergy.

I currently have a PS3 linked to an Onkyo 605 reciever and some silver Mission Cinema M70 5.1 speakers, all of which will soon be consigned to the study / garage / shed to spare her delicate sensibilities.

So I'm now after an all in one system with hopefully most of the following spec

Blu ray

3D ready (just in case)

Wifi enabled

2 or more hdmi inputs

iPod dock

Wireless rear speakers

Not bothered about 7.1 and may be some flexibility on price - around £500

Any suggestions ?

I've got a Sony system with the little golf ball surround speakers..

It's a bit of a compromise, because the Sub/Amp unit is doing most of the Low & Mid frequencies but for the size, budget (under £500 with sony blu-ray player) i can't really complain and does still sound good when cranked up :

I like the look of those speakers and I'm sure SWMBO would as well. I suppose I could keep the Onkyo and get a Blu ray player, but then some of the spec would have to go out the window.

I'm tempted by the Panasonic BT-230 to go with our Panasonic telly, but our room doesn't have any suitable places to put the "rear" speakers, so I'm heading towards the BT222 instead, which is 2.1 but has virtual 7.1 (or something)

I think the Panasonics can do wireless speakers as well, but they're extra

(edit) - just re-read your specs and I don;t think either of these are 3-D ready
