Highest Mileage Fabia VRS - Maintenance

Featured Replies

158000 still runs good getting abit wary weather to sell her or not as to don't know if she will last if I keep. cambelt change last year always serviced

Hi, 182847 miles and still going strong ,

Mainly motorway miles,

Just serviceable items, and very good oil change record.

Needed a foglight and console bushes at last mot and that's it. :)

108K owned from new

Nothing major (unexpected) at this stage

Only had broken alternator wire, DIY fix, broken filler tank sensor, £12 fitted.

Everything else has been non essential, or normal wear/tear which is hardly unexpected is it, e.g. changing the shocks and suspension at 100K, more for looks that need although shock were a bit poor, changing brakes and pads etc.

Wear to console bushes so replaced around 90K or so.

Is it perhaps a no brainer that the "problem" cars tend to be when people buy cars second hand, with possible chequered history ?

i.e. Cars can be like having a new relationship....they seem great on face value then they get comfortable and will unload problems passed down from the last that don't initially surface straight away!

From new ownership these cars in my experience are great.

Nearly at the 250,000 mark here! Will change my picture when it gets there :)

mines on 142,000 miles,

serviced the car when i bought it year last february 2012,

timing belt, water pump and tensioner's as no proof in service log,

then changed anti-roll bar bushes,

console bushes,

4 x glow-plugs,

drop-links,

rear shocks, rear mounts and bump stops,

front top mounts,

brake fluid change,

recently alternator, pulley and battery,

regular oil changes of course.

2006, 127k owned since 40k and serviced every 10k

Had no major problems other than general wear and tear things

My 04 VRS is on 187k.Owned since 38k.

Oil and filter changes at 10k

Still on original clutch

Headgasket failure at 90k, fixed

Turbo replaced at 145k

2 cambelt changes

AC compressor replaced

Loads of other minor stuff fixed

Way too many tyres and a ridiculous amount of bulbs

I'm keeping it for another 30k at least

Still goes really well

Current to do list is:

Cambelt change at 190k

Rear wiper motor

Minor boost leak somewhere

New turbo a few years back.

New dmf and clutch a couple of years ago(dmf had seized)

Console bushes, drop links, front shocker

Rear calipers

Door carriers sealed, for the third time now!

Then normal consumables like pads and discs, etc.

Keep getting it ready to be sold then change my mind on the way back from the valeters.
